Of course in the eyes of many Terry will still be a guilty man. The damage has already been done in my eyes. What has become clear is that Terry should never have been stripped of the captaincy. What action the FA take now is their business but the least they could do is offer some sort of apology for stripping JT of the captaincy.

You can't have it both ways. Terry lost his captaincy, which led to Capello resigning, which led to massively increased speculation about 'Arry, which led to our season being ****ed up. You lot enjoyed it and would probably consider Terry losing his England captaincy a small price

There is a system in place. It can work for you or against you, there is no doubt many non-CFC fans are unhappy with the outcome but at the end of he day that's all the Judge could do, all you can do is play it by the book. To convict a person in a Criminal court cases have to be "beyond reasonable doubt". We know what Terry said but Terry isn't on trial for using the word he's on trial for directing it at Anton. There is no evidence to disprove Terry's story despite Anton being a credible witness. The only evidence was a YouTube video which was obstructed half way through therefore we cannot understand the context. That in itself is doubt. You can't convict a person on doubt.

I've always said I'd rather 100 guilty people go free than 1 innocent man be convicted.

In a Civil Court. Terry would most likely have been found guilty but that isn't the case

When Suarez was 'convicted' by a Kangaroo court nobody seemed to use terms like reasonable doubt etc. This just shows how badly Liverpool handled the Suarez/Evra thing. If they had taken it to a criminal court it would have not lasted as long as this trial.

The FA got it all wrong. For a case of this type, Terry should have been stood down from the Captaincy, and it made clear that a not guilty verdict would see him reinstated. That was the logical and moral way of dealing with the issue.
Now the dorks at the FA are up to their dumb necks in it.
Can't wait to see how they try and squirm out of this mess.
An attempt to clean up on field behaviour wouldn't be a bad start.

That would have been the right way to go, I think, but I still think it's worked out for the best. The only people I've ever heard saying Terry should be England captain support Chelsea. The rest see he's now on the decline and will surely lose his place in the England starting 11 in the next few games. I still believe giving him vice-captaincy would be fair and of some benefit to the squad though.

Relieved that this is all over tbh. I was concerned right up to the last minute that the verdict could have gone either way, but reading what the magistrate said in court has made it clear that there could only ever have been one outcome in truth. I hope both sets of fans can just move on now, but no doubt JT and Anton F will get roundly booed at Loftus Rd & the Bridge next season - shame really, as neither one of them wanted all of this rather mucky laundry aired in public.

I see where you're coming from mate, but actually I think the FA were just plain wrong to bring the captaincy into it at all. They had a clear choice the minute the police investigation started - suspend JT from the England team until the case was heard (as they did with Lee Bowyer & Jonathan Woodgate, so a precedent had been set and I think Capello would have accepted that under the circumstances) or state "innocent until proven guilty" and make him available for selection AND the captaincy.

By saying he could play, but couldn't be captain, it was just typical fence-sitting nonsense from the FA and caused far more disruption (Capello resigning, the Rio/JT bullshit) than a firm decision either way would have.
