Think we are getting close now, if we assume that their absence from the tour squad means Hulse, Smith, DJ and Young won't make it. Big question mark for me is right back, the below changes if Onuoha is our first choice there ( I prefer him CB). Below just to make the numbers work, not intended to start a fight, and we are lucky to have players like Traore, Mackie, Hill (ish), Dyer ( if fit) who can play a number of positions. Space for 2 new buys, if Barton is not in the 25

1st Choice. Cover
G. Green. Cerny, Murphy
RB ? Dyer
CB Onuoha. Ferdinand
CB Nelsen. Hill Connolly
LB Fabio. Traore
CM Faurlin. Derry
CM Diakite. (Barton)

Excluding Barton that's 23. Something has to give if we get 3 more in....

Harriman and Doughty can play as under 21. Ephraim and Balanta - loans? Andrade - what's happened to him?
Whatever, this is much stronger than last year. RB, CM and perhaps a CB I'll be very happy. If we get another winger, looks dodgy for SWP or Mackie.
 
Hulse and Young in the 4 excluded from tour, assuming they won't make squad, could be injured of course.good call on Connolly.
 
Seeing that just highlights how desperate our plight for a full back is.

Has Dyer made the tour? Expect reports of a long term casualty due to deep vein thrombosis in the near future...

Agree, I think Fabio didn't play RB for Utd because his brother did. If Traore gets his concentration better he can make a good LB, but he was staring into the middle distance too often for me last year. But this set up gives us great pace on the wings.
 
Hard to believe why Bothroyd would feature given his complete lack of commitment last year. On the other hand MH continued to have him on the bench when the rest of us had long since given up. Managers eh?

There is a decent striker in there somewhere, I'm sure of it.

Sparky doing it again! Consistently! Forgetting about the Defense. He has no idea. So clueless. That's what happens when a striker becomes a manager. OK so now he loaded the midfield and got some strikers. And we're all wondering about the back. So typical. Nothing has changed with him, he still hasn't figured it out! After all these years, you would've thought he would realize he needs a good defense. Unbelievable. To go an international tour like this without a good back line to test. <doh>

What's brought you out from under your rock? Your analysis is rubbish of course. MH has signed two defenders and a goalkeeper so far, and has more than six weeks to add to these if he wants to.
