And presumably to factor in a stop off at McDonalds on the way (or KFC, in the case of this particular walk)
If you forgot the road names, a good basic rule is once you've come out the station and gone up the hill, just keep going straight on and straight on and straight on again until you can see the stadium
I have been walking to SMS from the ferry terminal since it was built...I'm still not confident and, on way back, usually ask someone. But then I am me
I've always loved all the post match news gathering as the results come in. As a kid years ago, I'd often take a small radio to The Dell purely for the walk back up Hill Lane, after the match. Years later, it was the car radio. When I didn't do this I felt as if something was missing from the whole match-day experience.
Snap TSS. Lived in Winchester so used to listen for the results on the radio at the station then wait for the Pink paper to come out so I could disagree with the match report!
The worst part is one way you walk past a chinese and the other you walk past an indian. Damn makes me hungry each time, especially evening games. ha!
I usually take bus to SMS and it takes a different route every time, so when I walk I have no idea. Tried following people in Saints strip once and I followed them to a block of flats...I'm sure they thought I was a stalker! I know the route from top of High Street so will have to stick to that. So many streets in Southampton look the same with the same row of small shops. Small town girl.
Maybe assert yourself, stride out confidently, and note where you are going, so that next time you can be sure..? At the very least you'll acquire of load of others who haven't a clue.
