Drat, drat & double drat - arrived home to a letter from Bedfordshire Police waiting for me. They have finally caught me speeding through the 50 MPH average speed limit in the roadworks on the M1, been done for 58 MPH <yikes> I think I will be able to opt for the Speed Awareness Course as I have not taken one in the past 3 years....I suppose I have been lucky, I have been going through these average limit areas for about the past 5 years!

Unlucky W_Y, on the M4/M5 round Bristol there are average speed cameras set at 50, Some people must have some very dodgy speedometers as they fly past me, mind you that is if you can get anywhere near the 50 limit. The lanes are so narrow and there have been endless accidents/bumps due to the roadworks, still never mind they are only there till spring 2014<yikes>

In NZ it is the local dealer gangs that run the speed awareness courses.

Easily done...but shouldn't they be sending you on a Slowing Down Awareness Course? :cheesy:

He let the players pass the ball around for 10 minutes, filmed it.... then afterwards they did the same and if the ball went off the ground they were running around the pitch. Needless to say the boys were pinging it around on the floor after not too long :).

I find it odd that that wouldn't already be par for the course in training sessions! I used to hold a Soccer Australia coaching qualification - coached from u6 right up to adults - and that sort of exercise was expected in every session from u9 upwards.

Oh dear W_Y!!! Naughty boy! I am pleased to say i have never been caught speeding but have seen a few. One time i was driving up the A1 just at Sandy where the limit is 50mph and had someone speed past at probably 70+ and have to jam the breaks on and he ended up locking his wheels.

Some more inside information from my source, this time about training.

They did quite a few tests i.e. sprinting, endurance etc. No surprise who won the endurance, Hogg by a longshot. Tumwa won the sprinting, he seems to be our fastest player. Not bad but, Zola is not going to focus on athletes, he wants technically gifted players.

That is just what they were doing on Tuesday when i saw them. They were doing the bleep test which was quite funny to watch as you see Big Chris, Tiny and Nos 'sprinting' down the track as fast as their tree trunks will carry them, and then you watch Muzza who is like the flash!! Very comical

I have always worked on the basis that as it's an average you can compensate for having to do 40 MPH behind some dick with doing 60 MPH (but not through the camera)...obvious there were not so many dicks about that evening (well apart from me - beat you to it BB!). Still I have has a good run and they should be finished in Spring 2013!!!!

ahaahahahah

I've been on a speed awareness course, you feel like a right chump on them. Also I still take points for my old man when he gets them, even though I am over here. Hope none of you lot are coppers ! ;)

Oh dear! Oh well, you've done pretty well, though obviously i wouldn't condone speeding ;) ...being as i'm a driving instructor, i'm not allowed to speed and i have to admit it's a right pain in the bum! lol

Here it's driving instructors..pretty much the same thing ;)

Morning all from a drab bandit country - just working half day as we are up to London to take in Jersey Boys and then out for a few drinks and something to eat. If I can find somewhere open - why do pub's in Soho close at 11.00 PM?
Thanks for the frothy AK

A few years ago, my brother-in-law had a ban for reaching a certain number of points. His ban was completed while my sister was pregnant with my niece. I'm still trying to work out what possessed her to agree to him going to the wedding of a friend of theirs in Leatherhead when she was already past her due date. I was over there as it was only a few days after my Dad had died and my sister came round to Mum's house for dinner with us. Halfway through dinner, my sisters waters broke. Once we got to WGH, while Mum went with my sister into maternity there was me racing up and down the stairs to let him into the hospital when he arrived (the doors were not on automatic at that time) but it was a worry that he would get caught speeding again. Luckily, he wasn't.

That's really unlucky I thought the ACOP margin was +10%+3 so bang on 58 for prosecution in a 50. I got caught 27 years ago doing 100 in a 70 at 3am and got a friendly warning and a producer, wouldn't happen today! Come over a few hills at bottom of M74 and top of M6 to spot camera vans on bridges but never got done yet touch wood...for any rozzers online I think I might have been exceeding the limit slightly but possibly within calibration error on my speedo.....

Morning all from a wet bandit country - got up early to take Little Miss W_Y to the station as she is working today! In fact she is working every day at the Olympics, she is filming a "feature" on London today and another on London Taxi's tomorrow - she will be shattered come 12th August!
Had a great night in London - W_Y's review of Jersey Boys:
9.887 Sailor Jerry's out of 10 - a really good old fashioned musical, loved every minute. Had a few cocktails in my fav bar in SOHO after and home by 12.30. Very civilised!
Right back to bed for a couple of hours of kip!
