Gyan has not given anything close to what was promised then agian not many have this season.......... still sticking with Gyan though
20 replies and 8 different players named, guess that just about sums it up at the moment, dissapointment in so many
Sessegnon. I know he was only brought in the Jan window but I think we have bought a lemon there. Don't agree about Henderson. He is a victim of injuries to others this season. He has come off the boil because of being played too much.
sess well that makes it 9 different players, my first thought was muntari which would have been 10, but iv'e slated the fella for a long while and since he only came in jan i left him alone, also since he'll be off in the summer i went for gyan. but 10 different points of view, kinda shows how we all view things differently,
Gyan for me as well. I suppose that speaks more to how good he is rather than how bad he has been. He looks to have the potential to be world class but plenty of performances where his touch has been shocking. Also we don't seem to get the same effort as he put in at Wembley chasing lost causes do we?
Disagree, think he's looked tidy and put in some good performances (Arsenal, Stoke), you have to remember he was thrown in at the deep end, he wasn't given time to adapt and you have to remember his first few games have included Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Mancity. I believe he will come good probably next season though. Back to the original question and I'd have to say Angleri, Riveros and Hendo. None have lived up to any expectations and expect 2 out of the 3 to be sold in the summer.
Completely agree regarding Gyan's first touch - it is poor these days. Question though - for Ghana he played as a through the middle striker and was a continual threat to the England back line. However, when he plays for us he seems to gravitate towards the inside left channel and does not impose himelf on the game enough. Is that Bruce's tactics or is he given a more defined centre forward role by the Ghana manager?
Muntari came with Bruce bigging it up as a tremndous coup for Sunderland to be attracting players like this but he has failed to add anything to our team so far. Sessgnon has argueably been our best player recently and deserves more time than 6 games or so to say hes been our most dissappointing players
I think that they both deserve pre season. They have been tossed in at the deep aend and are not used to the way we play ect which will develop pre season
I still think he deserves another year, Cambiasso was dreadful the first year for Inter and got heaps of stick.
I agree mate. He has struggled to adapt to the pace of the EPL. He needs more time to get used to playing over here and he will only get better if he plays some part in our last few matches.
The thing is, is that although I'm very disappointed with his 'cameo' role this season, we all saw the ability that this guy has last summer. We've got to see if he can come good next season, before being too hasty and dumping him. The EPL history book is littered with players that have taken a season or two to establish themselves.
I don't want him to go, either. I just feel that it would be wrong, both for him and the team, to be dropped in it now. The only way we have out of the mess is blood and guts and, with respect, I don't think that's likely to be his strongest suit!!
I think this just shows how far we've sunk. I couldn't really argue with any of them. I'd say Riveros because he looks like he'd struggle in the Wearside League. I could understand the reluctance of whoever it was said Sausage'n'onion because he only arrived in January. The only one that I would disagree with would be Zenden who hasn't played as much as he should have done for me. He has been left out too much for my liking. Gyan is a good call, but in terms of expectation and what's been delivered. I was expecting a huge impact from Muntari, and he has been complete ****.
Can't believe how few have said Muntari watched him for Ghana and he put his foot in everywhere and was brilliant, saw him a few days later and he was non existent. At the time you signed him I thought wow thats the final piece of Sunderland's jigsaw for European qualification this year.
Cbrad27 ive watched Munteri a good few times and bar the odd great goal heis pretty crap. Said at time he wasnt the man to take the club to the next level and so its proved. Biggest flop for me is Henderson-just never looks like a great player. Cant include Jan cos he is struggling along with crap service. He cant score wonder goals all the time..
