Is there a chance that Usain Bolt really is in trouble? After being beaten by compatriot Yohan Blake in both the 100-200, he complained of tightness in his muscles. He's since visited Munich doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt (lovely surname that) and claims to be ok. Blake has been talked about as the real deal, maybe this is his chance to grab one of the big ones.
 
Bolt is 5/6 at the moment on Oddschecker
Blake is 13/8
Tyson Gay 12's
Gatlin 22's
Powell 33's


At those prices Bolt looks a stand out massive price and if Bolt is injured then Powell e/w at 33's looks rather large also.

Usain Bolt has met with a setback and is therefore forced into retirement. He will be standing at Coolmore for 2013. Trainer Aidan O'Brien commented "Listen, obviously, he always showed us unbelievable speed at home, do you understand?"
 
Looks like the games are more than just sport. The High Court's decision to quash a challenge from the locals of Fred Wigg Tower, has left the residents of the tower with a new tenant, a battery of rapier missiles who'll reside on the roof. Judge Charles Hadon-Caves said that the missiles pose no real threat to residents. Tenants of course don't agree, as far as they are concerned, they now potentially wear a large target on their chests.

Seems to me the safety that anonymity provides has now been whipped away from the good people who live there.
 
All safety comes at a cost, but at what cost to the people...? By the sounds of it the people near the Fred Wigg Tower cant wait for the Olympics to end let alone start as they are probably in fear that the first thing to be shot at will be the missles in their town...!!!

Its all a bit ott for me. They shouldn't need them really...
 
This is turning out to be huge Red. The tower is one of just 6 sites that will carry Rapiers. There will also be a helicopter carrier moored in the Thames and Typhoon jets and Puma helicopters stationed on the outskirts of London. I suppose you can't blame the powers that be for taking these actions, but it does highlight the kind of world in which we now live.

The problem is of course that all these typhoons and puma helicopters are not going to prevent a bunch of lunatics repeating 7/7 on packed tubes. Mind you, I got my tickets today and the security checks are as bad as getting on a bloody aeroplane <laugh>

Good morning, Cyc. Yes the figure of £700 was mentioned when the tickets were "released" for sale. If you haven't got one, you should be able to buy one on the Web (no doubt E-Bay) for £5-10,000. Ticket sales...a total farce perpetrated by that A...hole Coe!
Not to mention that 61 competing British Athletes were not born in the UK. QED.

Its a good question Dex... To me the Olympic Spirit was to involve the true ideals of sport, fairness, toughness, competitiveness, gracious in defeat... Do we see that in sport nowadays, well that's up to the viewer. One of my best mates thinks the Olympics is just one big drug fest and wont be watching a single event if he can help it. That's his view and i try to get him to see it for what it is but unfortunately some sportsmen let me down by taking drugs and your back to square one...

I do hope that we have a good Olympics as its not just about the track and field events, but it has been hijacked by sports that just shouldn't be there... Beach volleyball, football, tennis etc but it wont or shouldn't take away from the other minor sports which make the Olympics what it is... Just a fascinating, sporting, spectacle...

Packing done - uncheck!

Am taking laptop so hoping to keep in touch with the outside world!
 
So we're now being told what we can and cannot wear to Olympic events so as not to offend people or upset the sponsors. I have an England rugby shirt with Guiness on the front which I will wear along with my hat which depicts Jesus drinking a can of coke and eating a burger King whopper.....

The IOC isn't going to know what's hit it - of all the populations in the world that you don't tell what they can and cannot do having paid fortunes for a ticket because they'll take great glee in flaunting it we've got to be in the top 3 <laugh>
