    From BBC:

Rangers: Five former players refused transfer clearance
International clearance has not been granted for the transfers of Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker, Steve Davis, Kyle Lafferty or Jamie Ness.

The quintet have found new clubs after refusing to have their contracts transferred to a newco Rangers.

But, with Rangers seeking compensation, the Scottish FA will not provide authorisation for the moves.

Fifa are expected to grant temporary registrations while the world governing body rules on the matter.

Davis has joined Southampton, while Whittaker has signed for Norwich and Everton are Naismith's new employers.

Ness and Lafferty have found new clubs
Ness moved to Stoke City and Lafferty is with Swiss club Sion.

Clubs request international transfer clearance (ITC) through their own national association, who then contact the SFA who, in turn, contact the club the player is leaving.

However, in this case, the issue is muddied by Rangers FC plc being consigned to liquidation and the newco Rangers having not yet become members of the SFA.

Eleven players have refused to join the new company set up by Charles Green after he purchased the assets of the Ibrox club.

Those leaving have been advised by their union that they do so as free agents.

Green contests this and has written to all clubs in England warning that the players are in breach of contract.

PFA Scotland say Green is deliberately misrepresenting the contract situation, with union chairman Tony Higgins last week saying: "I haven't spoken to a single employment or sports solicitor who agrees with Mr Green's interpretation of the law."

Fifa say they have received no requests on behalf of any former Rangers players.

Sabre rattling by the club formerly known as Rangers. Can't see this being an issue. How can you owe allegiance to an organisation shortly going out of existance or to a Newco who are not members of any league? Green is just trying to see if he can blackmail the new employers into reaching some sort of financial compromise. Frankly this charlatan can go and get f**ked as far as I'm concerned. I hope his bunch of bowler hat and apron-wearing bigots get dropped down into the Highland League.

As the former employer was liquidated how in earth can it give clearance the newco does not own employment contracts the guy in charge of newco seems to view his employees as assets , this is not the age of slavery he is muddled and has wasted his time and money on a club which is obviously going to dissaoear which is very unfortunate for the fans

As I understand it, the "old" Rangers hasn't yet been liquidated. I believe that final step will be taken once the "new" Rangers has been accepted into the SFL. Not sure what would happen if the SFL refused to admit the newco but the delay in liquidation of the old suggests that it might herald some new twist in this sorry affair.
Re. player registrations, I believe the arguments hinge on the exact terms of the agreement reached with the players when they accepted a 75% wage cut and whether objections to the transfer of their registrations to the newco were lodged in proper time. Aren't there ALWAYS grey areas?
Might be totally wide of the mark, but that's my understanding of the current situation.

Football really has changed for the worse hasn't it. Contracts, contracts, legalities, court appearances, administrators.
