There really is no need for all the personal abuse metered out to Rick Everitt(Airman Brown), Ben Hayes etc.What Rick has done for the club over the years is amazing.He and a few other individuals coupled with the supporters who put money into the Valley Investment Plan are a big reason why Charlton returned to the Valley.To have a go at Charlton Life per sa is stupid and shortsighted.There are a number of well connected individuals,there is also a few WUM as is the same for most Football Forums.I am only an occasional poster on here but i used to enjoy posting,not any more.I think it is about time the moderators moderated and got people to cut out the personal stuff.We are all Charlton fans and we all disagree about things,no need for the name calling.

My two cents - I know very little of Charlton Life but obviously some of their members are well known and have been discussed on here and the old 606. It's easy to criticise the site as a whole, but that would belittle the hard work that the owners have put in to it. When you have a membership the size of theirs, you are going to encounter a few posters who's main purpose is to provoke/talk absolute rubbish. From what I saw, the members who are discussing their knowledge have done so in the correct manner. The people who have spread it and added their own little twists and said the information was from their ''own sources'' are the ones who have undermined what could be genuine information.

My problem is with one member, not the site. I just think it's unfortunate that because he is a club employee the masses gobbled up his information as gospel and failed to realise it was he who was undermining the club. Fortunately, others around him remained professional.

In regard to ''the moderators should moderate'' statement. Plum, I didn't see anything that went too far. I've even let a thread being sarcastic and rude to the existing members remain. I've received no complaints so I am inclined to leave it. So to say ''we are all Charlton'' and then go on CL to tell a whole community that Not606 are in denial and a patronising comment about the garden being green - well thats contributing to the problem, no? Not606 may be deemed as being ''slow to the party'' with this story, but it's not hard to understand that as most aren't members to other sites it's not easy to believe and trust such stories from members/posters that people haven't heard of. When the full story comes out then I'll feel more comfortable to be in a position to judge and comment. Right now, no one knows the full story other than it appears the money man (rumoured to be Kevin Cash) has pulled out. Tony Jiminez has gone from being the devil and a saint so much that he should buy a time share in purgatory.

I understand emotions are high with the stories going round and echo that the clubs fans should unite. But as I said on the other thread, I know 99% of the guys here will band together, but rather than trying to force peoples hands, and then criticising when they aren't sharing the same opinion - let people wait for the information to become clearer so they can think rationally.

As for this meeting, I am going to try and pop along. I'll keep a low profile if I attend but am interested to hear what's said.

Wouldnt mind, but i wasnt even wumming - as people on here know, 1) I dont WUM, and 2) I am in favour of moving to the new stadium.
 
I would rather support the club in other ways like renewing my season ticket, done before the deadline, help out with the volunteers than attend a meeting designed to undermine the club and new board and spread gossip not based on any factual evidence. It's just what the rumour mongers wanted as they have too much time on their hands. But I agree with the personal insults, unfortunately this thread writer cannot post without insulting and putting down others and moderation does not seem to pick up on this.

We are not undermining the club we just want some represenation so we can try and look after Charlton Supporters.It works well at Swansea and i would hope if it ever happens at Charlton we could work with the Board to progress the club.If it does'nt work out what have we lost? But it is better than not doing anything.

I am opposed to it and hope it dies a death. Dedicated supporters get involved in constructive ways and initiatives which are organised by the club staff themselves who are the professionals. It came to nothing last time and is likely to fail again. There are already mechanisms for representing supporters and they were founded on sound principles not tittle tattle and unfounded rumours and tabloid gossip.

Do you not think it's best to see what's discussed first? I would be up for this with or without the stories doing the rounds - as long as it is managed correctly.
 
Lets put this right.

Charlton life and those that run it do so on the basis that it conforms to their level, their ideals, their party line. Some Charlton lifers are even working for the club and maybe just maybe, their cushy little jobs and power base are being threatened by a new board who may be just maybe have sussed them out for what they are. At least two of them have dined out on the Valley Party since the nineties and have used that for furtherence of their income and own political carreers-but lost in the General Election.

Now for the first time in years we are looking ahead and what happens? a bit of turbalnce and they want a lynch mob! Burning torches in the night they were going to march from Ze BeeHiven and hang TJ from a lamppost and install one of the slipper and sock combo wearers as leader. FFS.

Maybe we got problems maybe we dont. But to organsie the Red rebellion is a bit urgent dont you think? Those people usually discuss cardigans and brass rubbing holidays. Dont take them seriously.

The other mechanisms are sufficiently robust and democratic, this Trust can never represent the body of supporters who are best managed by the Club/board and it must be stopped. It is designed to damage Charlton Athletic.
 
I can't believe that you lot call yourself supporters! Why do you have to base your forum around topics that are hardly ever Charlton or football based? Why is it that when you let the abuse of other forums start flying that you feel that you have to name names? The big difference is girls is when you name the likes of me, AFKA, Henry or anybody else on here people know straight away who those people are, in comparison I would not know you lot if I fell over you, the reason? ....Because you are not important. I like AFKA and others I expect have logged on here for one reason (Obviously not football) to see if us Charlton fans who are trying to stand United against people at the football club who have clearly not got it's best interests at heart - have your support?.......How stupid of us to even think that there might be just an inkling of such a thing.

If CL or any other forum is such an arse licking site why go there? Why does it bother you that much to look? Admittedly I have had a run in or two in the passed and have the odd dig about the place myself from time to time but I'll tell you one thing I wish my forum was as good as theirs and I suspect you lot feel the same.

I have never had much respect for this place to be honest, you lot have a chip on your shoulder and are full of self importance. The tittle tattle is a joke as is your refusal to accept that there are problems down at The Valley. The idiot who has questioned Airman Brown really does need a refresher on the who's who at Charlton, it's not for me to educate him but I will just sit here and continue laughing at how uninformed the idiot is.

Real Charlton fans stand side by side in situations like this but you lot are not real fans are you just a bunch of no mark hangers on'ers who we are better off without.

Reams, from what I understand you and the other "real fans" believe that Kevin Cash has withdrawn his financial support from the club and you are angry with those who remain for trying to find alternative investment? If I am reading this wrong I am sorry. Only the rest of us, not in the know, are left trying to understand the shifting sand of the CL rumour mill.
Those of us over a certain age will always be grateful to those who stood up and were counted in the 1980s for the very existence of our club but as it stands I have not seen anything to justify this current movement.
We are all also grateful to the Murray's and Alwens of this world but we are now in a different era and while I miss the openness of the old board I want to see some reasonable evidence before becoming involved destabilising the new one. Their stewardship seems to have seen us right so far.

If you or one of your important friends can let me know what the problem is in full, stating sources and siting evidence then perhaps I'll feel more inclined to get involved.

Now read the Typical's post again, read your post again and see whether you think you prove his point at all.
I have never posted in support of anything Typical has posted on here before and have often disagreed with him on matters on and off the pitch, but that's OK that's what this forum is about. In this instance however it seems he has a point.

Still I'm not important.
