http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...805?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Would be a good deal for both clubs i think, hopefully get vaughan some playing time plus we get a decent CB with exp. But another striker slot would be freed up!!
I think if Vaughan can get fit and play a string of games he will do brilliant. Whitbread was plagued with injuries in his first year at Norwich so could be worth waiting, it is a difficult one. I think if Jackson can add goals next season he will be brilliant, his performances last year were pretty good especially Bolton where he was my MOTM, whenever called upon last year he done really well and if he had more goals in him would no doubt be starting every week. So if CH can get him firing in all cylinders which we've seen him do at the backend of Championship season than I think that would be brilliant.
No deal for me, Vaughan is probably the most talented striker on our books, if he's fit this season i want him on the pitch for us.
If Vaughan going on loan is needed to 'sweeten the deal' then I think it could be a good move. We need a CB with experience and Davies wouldn't be that expensive and hopefully it would give JV playing time.
i'm not overly keen on this deal, i must admit. i do want us to get davies but at the expense of vaughan? it's a tough one because the lad needs to play games - desperately! i want that to be with us, he's good enough, but will he be fit enough? none of us know, only the manager so i'll trust him on this one - assuming its true that is!
we still don't have a defensive midfielder which the squad is absolutely crying out for. its so obvious that my head will explode if anyone else says we don't need any more midfielders!!
hmm this seems odd. is it because birmingham are light on their squad due to the transfer embargo? would be surprising to let a player leave who has played, what, 4 times for us? due to his injuries we haven't seen what the lad (vaughan) can offer, and that would be a little harsh. either way, i hope we do get curtis davis, as he has good experience.
Despite him only playing a few games last season, personally I have my doubts about Vaughan. I had big hopes for him being the athletic alternative to Holt/Morison but hopefully better on the ball than Jackson. It may well be a fresh start in pre season might be a spark to revive his career or maybe a few games under his belt at another club. I still believe we are bringing in another striker before the season starts.
It does say he'd only be on-loan to them for the season. Its not like we're getting rid of Vaughn completely. Vaughn hasn't had the greatest of starts with us, and if Davies can make a difference to our backline (an area that does need some attention) then perhaps this is the best way to go? He needs game time and a chance to prove he can stay fit over a season.
https://twitter.com/JamesNursey/status/222299656254799873 New twitter story that James Vaughan is set to go on loan to Birmingham City this week. Odd in my opinion. Especially if the Jackson move happens too. Hughton must have atleast one striker lined up. Birmingham have also brought in Peter Lovenkrands indicating perhaps one of their strikers is on the way out. Lets hope theyre not coming here. Zigic, King? Not for me. IHWT
Also didn't consider Curtis Davies perhaps coming the other way. Odd to swap a defender for a striker though.
Absolutely horrified if it happens... Vaughan is quality and we don't need to be getting rid of strikers. Surely we can afford to just BUY Curtis Davies? If not, there's got to be defenders at least as good that we can afford. As for the defensive midfielder, we have Crofts (who admittedly looked out of his depth, but is still here), Johnson can play there, Whittaker can play there, I think Fox could even play there! Basically, I'm yet to get excited about McCann or Davies, and Vaughan makes my panties wet.
Good deal imo. Vaughan is injured ALL the time and is not a proven scorer at any level. Whilst he is obviously talented, the prospect of an experienced CB and a free striker space which could be filled by a fit player with a good scoring record to partner Grolt (unless, as mentioned, Jacko starts adding goals to good performances) is a great one.
