It reflects that we have been astute, rather than adventurous in the last few seasons. It also reflects the reasons for the Gooner's, and RVP's, discontent very well, they've made £20 mill and signed average to crap players like Park and Gervinho.

Wow - Stoke are the third highest net spenders. That's incredible. Shows what a difference the odd big sale makes (and they've not had any). And poor old Chelsea lagging £190m behind Man City on the spending. It's just not fair - no wonder they only got 6th.

Compared to our PL top 4 rivals, and the top 5 consolidation over the past 7 seasons, that is a good show indeed. Credit also due to the Goons (although N yrs of CL piggie trough has helped them here - even with the debt burden of their new stadium) .

As we're talking about net spend... We've swapped Sigurdsson and Vertonghen for Kranjcar and Corluka, and only spend £6.5m. That really is fantastic for us!

All the big outlay was prior to Redknapp. The last 3 yrs has been ruthless Levy purging of that legacy +/- the players Arry bought in to stop the "2 from 8" rot but had served their purpose.
As others have pointed out this clearly means we have spent ever so slightly more than we have taken in in transfers. We still perform well even after these results are taken into consideration. Our profits from operation before player trading (according to 2011 financial results) was £32.4m. We took in a lot of cash due to being in the ECL too. The 2011 revenues were £165.3m compared with 2012 which was £119.8m. Financially we are good and still run as a business better than most teams. We will not be in such high debt because we have a decent wage policy.
