What do you mean by common sense..? I used common sense in the way of Fulham could have afforded to pay £35k and yet Pogrebnyak turned them down to join the team with the multi-millionaire Russian investor who isn't afraid to splash the cash and would probably pay £65k for a marquee signing, what about that screams "absolutely zero common sense"?

EDIT: Also to add to this, my rationale was altered slightly by different publications. While the likes of the Sun and the Star ran £35k, more respected but obviously not infallible publications like the Guardian and Indy said £65k. I think common sense dictates to most people that ignoring The Sun and The Star is normally the way to go. Face it - your reasoned guess, it appears at this moment in time (based on the word of one journalist) was slightly more accurate than my reasoned guess. Of course, if that very slight difference makes me completely devoid of common sense, yet you some sort of sage with mounds of wisdom, then so be it.

You can give me all the explanations in the world but it still doesn´t make you right. Your conclusion is based on logic not common sense. There is a difference. If you would have used common sense then you wouldn´t have even gone into all those explanations.
...and about Simon Peach, he knows a whole lot more than we do, and more than most papers do. So, if you don´t want to take his word for it then we´ll probably never know. If you follow Simon Peach then you´ll know that he isn´t just a journalist who makes up transfer rumours and what he says is very, very creditable.

So by your definition the use of common sense involves not using logic... so... guessing? :p

Get a life. You're taking this far too seriously, big woop you got something right.

What does this actually mean? I genuinely don't know. Surely, he doesn't have to have conversations with anyone he doesn't wish to?

Nah but he's still being bombarded with messages whether he replies to them or not.

Granted, he doesn't have to accept people.

And for the record Pogrebnyak still isn't worth 35k. Anyway, moving on.. um, missed out on Fraser Forster I see. Bummer.

You've made about 10 posts this evening complaining about the thread being off topic which is in itself off topic, what are you complaining about?

On topic: Um, we might sign Jack Butland? (that's better, you can stop being so pre-menstrual now)

5 actually. Count them. And its taken 5 because you two wont shut up with your childish and petty argument and everyone is bored of it.

Can we stop the squabbling? Quite frankly, who cares how much Reading are paying the Pog amongst Saints fans? I certainly don't.

Whether they are or not, we have out own wage structure and I certainly wouldn't want us to pay anybody that kind of money until we reach the top 10 of the Premier League.

Reading fans on Twitter seem to want to create bitterness from our side towards their signings, but are also perfectly happy to wave the "£7m for Rodriguez" wand.

Let them support their plastic club and get on with supporting our own. Signings will come, that so is obvious, so just be patient and let Adkins/Cortese/Reed do the hard work and revel in our Premier League status and the fact we're playing one of the biggest clubs in the world in just over a month.

Up the Saints.

In fairness, the whole thing started with me trying to point out that we shouldn't give a **** about how much Pogrebnyak is being paid and the only reason pass the football brought it up was for a bit of "I'm right, you're wrong you morons" gloating. I definitely don't think we should care.

And on Rodriguez, I don't think £7m (especially considering it isn't up front) is nearly as bad as they make out considering the other options.

Does bother me when Saints own fans get on NA/NC/LR's back about a lack of signings though considering the window has two months left to run...

1) That's forums for you. Full of characters who try to make up for their lack of personality in real-life interaction by trying to be 'top dog' on an internet forum.

2) Trying to put bias aside, I would prefer to have Rodriguez (for what was more like £6.5m in total) than Pogrebnyak in the context of things. I know the Russian is on a four-year deal and I suspect he'll do well for Reading but Rodriguez, quite simply, is a better long-term option.

3) They're just people who are bored and want us to sign players for the sake of it. They'd get excited and probably believe it if I posted somewhere that we were to sign Mr Blobby, "and here is a youtube compilation of his best bits".

Agree on one and two, and on the third point, believe it or not, for about half an hour earlier today several media outlets were running a story on Man Utd signing a young keeper from Atletico Madrid, deemed the "next big thing", named Rodrigo Alvarez. The only issue was, he didn't exist. It was a hoax from a few bored people who set up a Twitter account and everything, Twitter went crazy, there were threads on Utd forums about it and news sources (mainly local Manchester ones) started reporting that United had pulled off this big coup, when it takes 10 seconds to type his name into Google and see he doesn't exist. Most articles were swiftly deleted when people realised they'd been had but a couple are still up:

http://www.click-manchester.com/spo...rez-hints-at-switch-to-manchester-united.html

http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/m...er-atletico-madrid-18yearold-rodrigo-alvarez/

So as you say... people will believe anything if they're bored enough.

I think we will sign adam Johnson on season long loan - NC stated we won't relegated while he is chairman of the club.. and he has to bring in players with the confidence to keep us up.

I agree. Pog's scoring record pre-fulham isnt all that eye catching, and at 28 hes at his peak. Rodriguez will improve and improve for a good few years yet. Personally I think 6 mill is about right

And Adam Johnson would be absolutely massive. Another key player will be Michael Owen, i think we need to hope he will go to a mid-table club or above, because if he goes to a fellow relegation club it will make our (footballing) lives alot harder
