Wanted him a few seasons back, not to sure now. Think he will get about 15 goals a season at this level, is that good enough? We've also been linked to DJ Campbell, who I think I would prefer.
 
Ask that 8 months ago I would say a good signing, ask me with new owners and funding around the corner and I would have to say surely we could do better?
 
Wasn't he Paynter's partner a coule of seasons ago at Swindon? If so, sign him up, pair them up again, & off we go.

I'm sure you praise Billy to wind everyone else up <laugh> Either way, your right he was. As was Charlie Austin, and we sign the dud out of the three, go figure!
 
Charlie Austin is a first class **** who shagged a teammates wife and said he wanted Clayton to get his leg snapped.
 
I think I'd prefer him to Campbell. A reliable 15 goal a season type to go with Becchio's goals and with hopefully more goals from midfield. Campbell has always struck me as the type of player who could get 25 goals a season or 5.
 
The trouble is guys we just haven't worked out how to get the best out of Paynter yet. Someone will & he'll score a hatful, just as he did in his final season at Swindon. That said, Cox would be a good addition & Paynter is likely to be leaving us sometime soon.

How do you want us to get the best out of Paynter? Hes not replacing Lonergan before you ask.

Brighton couldn't do it either. Neither could Hull when he was there. Hes simply not Championship standard.
