Anyone know whether he is over all his injury problems and if we are expecting him back at the start of preseason?
The silence is absolutely deafening re Tierney, makes you wonder if his injury is even more serious than at first thought. Pity as he was superb for us at the beginning of last season, (apart from his shamefull simulation against Wigan). It would be nice if we could have an update on his progress from the club though
Definitely would have been my choice for most improved and future POTS. Loved his energy and ambition and despite Drury and Naughton stepping into the breach, I think he was the big loss last season. How much did we pay for him?
£75k allegedly plus fox at £50k and lambert (eventually) at £425k and i think that £550k to colchester ranks up there along with £400k for holt as astonishing business!
Transfermarkt claims it was for £277,200 and Fox was £264,000. Both very cheap whatever the truth is
Before the end of last season the club told us both Tierney and Ayala would be back for pre-season. That's all we have heard, and must assume that this is still the case.
Yeah, I remember the fee being 50k as well, though to be honest it's very rare for us to reveal how much we spend/receive on transfers and it's almost always the old "undisclosed fee" line
Probably- they're very precise figures given, so it would make sense if they're percentage payments due to performance. Either way, still pittance!
I don't know how much it costs to put a trainee through the club and I'm not sure how long they are trainees for but say just two years. It appears that if you can pick up players, still, for money like that, then academies are a big risk for clubs. How many of our current 1st team squad that came from the academy are likely to play this season? And how much would we get for them if we sold them?
i think the new regulations in youth development will help us enormously. we've been hampered by the '90-minute rule', especially as much of our surrounding area is the north sea and it takes about 90 minutes to get out of norfolk! by scouting and setting up academies around the country and maybe even further afield it should return us to the early 90s period where our youth setup was producing an endless stream of players, maybe not all good enough for us but who went on to decent things. the plan for the club to be self-sufficient will rely on the club producing at least one academy product each season who goes into the first team. a big ask but it is possible
....why still go on about this? nothing is known about any problems, if any, between them. time to forget it.
Precisely. Let's move on. We have a new season ahead of us, with a new management team in place, several 'old' faces, a few new faces (possibly more to follow in the next few weeks!!). Let's move on from this and hope that 'Archant' (and the rest of the media) can move on from the PL era. I for one am really looking foward to seeing CH being interviewed on MOTD and I guess for the majority of Canaries fans, he'll be a lot easier to understand!! (Wasn't a problem for me, as I originally hail from north of the border - the English border!!!)
