Pretty simple question really, not an easy answer. Who's going to step up now, who will be our stand out player, our star man, is anyone currently at the club capable of van Persie's replacement in this role, or will we have to look to the transfer market?
As you could see in the Euros, one man can't do miracles if a team overall doesn't perform. RVP was excellent last season but he had a team working for him. It worked and we didn't have to experiment while it was working. This season the goals will just be distributed throughout the team like the previous seasons.
It's simple. Last season we had one man scoring the bulk of the goals. This season we will have players of lesser ability carrying the goals between them. While Pod or Giroud will never reach 30 goals a season, I can see them scoring between 15-20 if they play well (admittedly ambitious). Obviously other factors need to be taken into consideration...
I think Gerv, Pod and Giroud. They'll feel they have to make their mark now our star player is going.
Some of you seem to be missing the point, scour every team, they all have a stand out player, some actually a few more, but anyway:- Manchester City - David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure Manchester United - Wayne Rooney Tottenham - Gareth Bale, Luka Modric Chelsea - Juan Mata, Eden Hazard Real Madrid & Barcelona - Cristiano Ronaldo - Lionel Messi Etc. Who's ours?
And who will be the man to inspire the team in attack...? Why is this such a difficult issue for some of you to understand?
I think the Pod will make the biggest impact for us, whether RVP stays or goes. I think Arteta will have another solid season for us.
He'll distract our opponents with his good looks, allowing Podolski to sneak past the opposition and score numerous goals.
Well at least that'll make us a two man team but I'd that's the case I would let chamakh or park score the goals so that we get a bumper deal for their sale once they score a record 100 goals for the season!
Even with Giroud distracting opponents, i really don't see Chamakh scoring 100 goals in a season. He's miss about 98% of chances by refusing to shoot (as usual)
Irrespective of the goalies sexuality they will be so dazed as to allow chamakh to walk the ball into the net...who needs to shoot. Hopefully rivals won't discover our secret weapon as with zero assists and goals he will on a statistical level be extremely poor.

Not really answering the question, but if Walcott agrees a new deal, I think he will do better playing off Podolski and particularly Giroud than he ever did with RVP. He will get a lot more knock downs and he will also have better targets to aim at. I also think that whoever plays attacking midfield will get more shots without a "false #9" in front of them. Playing with more of an attacking committee will make it more difficult to shut us down, in my opinion.
