Benny - contract dispute??

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Spur of the Moment, Jul 4, 2012.

  1. Maybe late to the party as currently remote in the Caribbean, but just picked up a news feed suggesting that we might be letting BAE go due to a 'contract dispute'?

Now I appreciate that some of you may already have me down as a Benny 'fan', but WTF!!!

He has hardly let the club down in the last 5 years and we have no cover!!! Apart from that I think this is a great move.......

Anyone offer any ITK on this??

Good luck getting Coentrao for anything less than £30M... Madrid, Mourinho and Coentrao were slaughtered in Spain all season for it.

Saying that, BAE will probably stay.

If he left would you be completely adverse to Bale moving back to his old position and a new winger/someone else at LW?

There's rumours of Alvaro pereira, so if it's going to be anyone, i would have thought it'd be more likely to be him with the Porto connection.

    Hopefully its crap.

Bale at LB would be a bad idea. Very bad. Very, very bad.

    Lazy journalism.

AVB joins Spurs. Spurs immediately linked with any player who has previously worked with AVB.

Similar to the Caulker to Liverpool (Rodgers) or Naughton to Villa (Lambert) rumours.

In general yes, but in AVB's standard tactic, the LB is almost a LM. Still would not be in favour though. And if this did happen, we'd need to buy another attacking player for the LW, when we don't need to if we use Benny LB.

  16. Hey, guys! Don't panic. Let's say we do lose Benny, would it be as bad as - oh, I don't know... - Arsenal losing RVP?

    Every cloud, and all that.

There were contract "disputes" at the end of last season because the players thought that by coming 4th, they were due a bonus for qualifying for the CL. As I understand it, their contracts had been cleverly worded by Levy so that if by some chance we finished 4th but did not get CL football for this season, then the bonus was not due.

Not saying that this is definitely the situation The Times is referring to here, just suggesting it might be.

An axis of Balzaretti and Bale down the left sounds good to me...
