Is this the first sigining and if so does anybody know anything about him? http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11701/7845693/Stoke-to-seal-Ness-move
Never heard of him Smithers. Just read he is 21 and has rejected the transfer of his current contract to the new rangers company. He ha made 18 appearances in 18 months for Rangers because of injuries. Isn't Arismendi a midfielder? and he never gets picked, perhaps Ness will be sent out on loan for a season or two!!
I noticed that he had only played 18 games in 18 months? Also noticed that there is a potential legal battle over the contract aswell! If our squad development is based on this guy and Cameron from the MLS then God help us!
I see Guthree has just signed a 3 year deal with Reading on a free! He is young and has prem experience and whilst not my first choice for improving our midfield would certainly have been a consideration if I had a limited budget! We are also now being linked with Fletcher, the Scotland misfit! I am not sure what he offers us over Jerome to be honest and lis likely to command a 5+ million price tag! He doesnt have the pace to help stretch defences and I'm not sure this would be an improvement.
Steven Naismith now in the fram aswell. They also inferr that the Ness deal has been done. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...tars-Steven-Fletcher-and-Steven-Naismith.html
I thought Guthrie would be a decent prospect, only seen him a couple of times, he looked no worse than Whelan and co, and actually attempted to pass! I'm unsure about the link with Fletcher, as you said, we've got Jerome, and it doesn't make much sense money wise, but from what I've seen of him he can hit the target regularly, which is something we need more of!!
I agree on hitting the target, it has been a problem since our promotion! However, Jerome hit the traget well compared to games and minutes played - I have never been a big fan but he was poorly utilised last term and who's to say that the nesxt big name striker will not be a flop under TP? Kitson, Tunny, KJ, Jerome = 22-25 million and have been squandered.
This is who we really want! http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/903800-adam-johnson-set-to-discuss-manchester-city-future Would give us the desperate wing cover we need and would be a vast improvment offensively!
Not much chance of TP signing him IMO, likely to cost too much in transfer fee and salary. I agree he would suit us though.
Leon Best signs for Blackburn for 3 million - again not my preference but would have been a good cheap option if the likes of Jerome and KJ are on their way out for an estimated 10 million! http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11678/7860544/Rovers-wrap-up-Best-deal Fabio has also joined QPR on loan, something we should have looked at I think considering he can play both LB & RB! http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11667/7860252/Fabio-joins-Hoops-on-loan
Got to disagree here, I don't think he would suit us. Just spoke to my mate who's a Man City fan, and he said the same as I was thinking, Johnson ain't a crosser of the ball, he's a lefty that plays on the right and cuts in. He can score goals and would be a great individual to watch, but I don't know how much he would improve the team. On the other hand, I've been trawling various Gers forums trying to find out about Ness, and he sounds very good when not injured! A lot of Rangers fans are saying they are more gutted about him going than any others, and that they thought he was gonna be ' the future of the club'
I'd thought that too, but it was always unlikely we would sign him, doesn't seem to offer a great deal defensively. It's all well and good getting forward and attacking, but when you job title is "DEFENDER" you should make sure you've got that spot on before trying to get up on the overlap!
I hear what you are saying and agree to a certain point! Johnson is very offensive minded and probably more suited to a forward position (4-3-3) than an out and out wing position. However he could cover the wing and being able to score goals and cut through back 4's dosen't sound like a bad thing to me? His lack of crossing with Man City could also be attributed to the fact that Man City dont really play that way! Fabio is not an out and out defender and is far too offensively minded for TP, but let me ask this question. Do our defensive full backs (that never get forward) do such a great job? I would suggest not judging by our GD, so would we be any worse off! I have philosiphy in football that attack and possession is the best form of defense and feel that the route cause of our problem (Hoof Ball) is firmly laid at the full backs. We all agree that we have one of the best CD pairings, but they come under so much pressure because Wilko & Wilson (or Woody/Huth as make shift full backs) do not create options to move the ball out of our half! In addition, not having full backs in the opposition half (numerical advantage) goes some way to explaining why we have so little chances on goal! I know some may disagree (TP being 1) but its the core DNA that is preventing us from evolving!
Ness is the first siging then! Lookls like we have made an offer for Cameron - the CD (who can play midfiled) from the MLS!
My mate is a Man City fan, and he reckons Bridge is ****e, they tried to sell him to West Ham last season after his loan but they didn't want him.
