Staff meeting at WFC this PM ....mmmmmm....... http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2829033,00.html I think we will here more soon!
Nani, Zola and Duxbury all left West Ham in 2010, after a poor season. Three famous businesspeople and a man who was a penalty away from winning the Champions League took their place, and got them comfortably relegated. If it is confirmed that Zola is coming, and I hope he isn't, the big difference here will be that Gino or Giampaolo Pozzo will have a veto on all the major decisions. While it's not in their nature to micro manage, they have shown at Udinese in particular that they aren't afraid to exercise their power when necessary.
Kev--I think the Pozzo's way of doing things will be different, and we will notice the difference. There will be some turnover of players--do older players like Doyley, Eustace, Taylor have much of a future at Watford in the Pozzo set-up? We will not be bringing in loan players from English Premier league clubs (no more Cleverley's or Foster's) since we are no longer a finishing school for any other club than Udinese. On the other hand, we no longer have to sell players as soon as they show some value, just in order to raise working capital or pay off debts--we can keep the Sordell's and Mariappa's a bit longer , till they show the multi-million pound value that the new owners are aiming for.So perhaps no need to sell Mariappa this season, but Lloyd may find himself sidelined . I hope they support all his benefit year plans.
"...The Hornets Shop and Ticket Office will remain open, albeit with limited cover...................The club's offices will re-open from 9.00am as usual tomorrow" No limited cover in the offices tomorrow then - surely means no sackings - the first positive?
Lia Capizzi SkySport ‏@LiaCapizzi Giampaolo Pozzo live su @SkySport24 : Gianfranco Zola sarà il nuovo allenatore del Watford #inboccaallupo ========================= Roughly translated, this journalist is claiming that Giampaolo Pozzo has stated that Zola will be the new manager.
"Giampaolo's son Gino will be at Vicarage Road later today, where we expect him to address staff for the first time." (Wobby)
'We are trying to revive a historic club and to bring it back to the Premier League." Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...nco-Zola-brink-Watford-job.html#ixzz1zTNue32H
Fair comment, Bucks. Interesting 15 moths ago the BBC said " backed by entrepreneur Laurence Bassini"; now they seem to be saying the ownership during the period was "fronted" by LB. Don't know whether we should read anything into that...
there's now a rumour that Zola is about to sign Jordan Rhodes! lol..i think some people are getting a little ahead of themselves!
As much as I like AC, I hope that Zola does bring in a keeper coach who is able to get our keepers meeting their potential.
I believe that the staff have been paid, but the meeting for them didn't take place. Someone failed to turn up. It should have been a staff forum!
totally agree with this, i've been saying for a long time, the keeper coaching has really let the keepers down over the last few years imho.
