Hey Guys , Don't post much but here we go. Who do you guys think we should have for club captain if Holt goes? I would go with R.Martin talks sense and seems to be a real leader also well liked within squad.
welcome, martin has to be in with a shout, along with howson. i think ryan bennett will be captain long term but might be a bit soon for him now
Question mark over Russ has to be whether he'd actually play enough games. Howson seems a more likely option on that front.
I agree with Canary-Dave. Martin is an excellent spokesman for the club; always enjoy his interviews. But, when he is on the pitch, he often has his hands full marshalling his young co-defenders, and anyway, will not be guaranteed a start. Howson is a proven team captain, and can only improve as he settles. So I would split the job this season in the way Dave suggests.
McNally seems hellbent on keeping Holt. Is it feasible that he could remain your club captain next season?
Hampy - It's not impossible that he'll stay, it's a tough call but if everyone can sit down and talk it through there's hope. As for a new captain, I'd say Howson or, if he gets enough games, Morison. Think the responsibility of being captain could stop him from sulking and bring out the best.
Hadn't thought of that, CS. It would give him more involvement and responsibility and perhaps stop him ploughing that lonely furrow of his, with that trademark Balotelli-esque "Why always me" look on his face
What about John Ruddy? I know people have a thing about keepers as captain, but I do think there's an advantage in having your captain among the central defenders (including any defensive midfielder sitting in front of the CBs), or a playmaker (like Viera for Arsenal, or Bobby Moore etc.) if you have one.
CS you can't be serious, Morison what are you on mate? I agree with Kent, WHEN Holt leaves it's got to be Howson
Haha sorry, had a carp morning, I'd haddock-nuff of the task I'd been assigned, and I saw you calling my post a load of old pollocks and not backing it up, and I took the bait. Happy again now, played football on my lunch break and crunched someone, always a good stress reliever.
