well im just thinking what positions are priority and LB is low on the list haha we cant buy players for every position

Do we need another LB?

To be honest, The Fox signing is what gave me the most faith in Nigel & Nicola because I thought just the same thing when we signed him. Do we need a new left back. After seeing the qualities that he brought the team and our style of play I thought, apparently, yes we did.

So to answer your question, I think the same. Do we need one? - Well my lesson has been, If Nige, thinks so then yes we probably do. I don't know why we need one but we'll probably find out.

I thought Harding was off somewhere? Or was that my imagination? I seem to remember brendy going into heavenly raptures......

As back-up to Fox, without a doubt yes. Just like we need a back-up to Richardson too.

That said, if there's a LB out there is better than Fox and is on our radar, then there's no reason not to sign them. Unless you have the best player in the world in a particular position, then there is always room for improvement in that position.

Well I might not know much, but I am pretty sure that Nigel will bring in the best players he possibly can. No one is coming in to be bench warming material. That said, there's no question that Fox will be an important player for us, and if this guy can play in midfield (if stories are true) then even better.

Anyway, when Fox swings one onto Lambert's head in the 89th minute and Nigel celebrates in the Etihad dugout, they'll know the scousers have really arrived.

Buttner looking likely to join Saints according to Dutch Press?

Vitesse have accepted he will go and so he has been to see the facilities of and talk to representatives of Saints, QPR, Fulham and supposedly Werder Bremen, and has said we are his preferred choice.

We just have to offer the requested asking price, which according to Dutch press has been made clear by Vitesse Arnhem. Then agree terms of course.

Get it done Nicola. (Rumoured fee is €3m, which is £2.42m)

Rumour on twitter saying we are favorites for Mariappa of watford now? Is he good enough, thought our boys ran rings round the watford defence
Last season?

Plays for Watford, so must be ****e.

If he's as good as people are saying then fair enough.

I can't stand people that rate players purely based on FIFA stats like some people do... <doh>

One rumour that was on Twitter earlier was that Mariappa was going to sign for us, with Barnard going the other way on loan.

True Dan, true. Might all be balls anyway, but based on all the paper talk so far it looks we're still going for younger players with the potential to break through, on what you'd imagine to be more reasonable wage demands. Might be similar to Moneyball theory, sign a squad of potentially undervalued players on lower wages and we can afford for the odd De Ridder to not work out as long as the sum efforts of the team that are on the pitch, over a whole season, are maximised. If we were going for more expensive players, we'd sign less of them, and be over reliant in the event of injury/suspension etc.
