Why would you want him to commentate on the final, he clearly sounds as if he doesn't want to be there.

    I like him.

    - He's funny in a dry, sarcastic way.
    - If you want 'OMG SPAIN PASSING THE BALL WHO ARE THESE FOREIGN PLAYERS THEY PLAY SO GOOD' go and watch ITV.

How is moaning about everything being sarcastic? I remember one sarcastic comment he made about the other commentator.

They are still better commentators than Mick McCarthy.

His commentary last night was shocking and i switched over to ITV after half time.

He should appreciate that we have paid to send him over there so he could sound a little more interested when commentating on the game.

What do you want him to sound like?

For goodness sake not everyone is going to be jumping for joy every two seconds.

You think you can do a better job? Go and try.

I imagine if he'd played for United you'd be defending him to the death.

No, he's probably being paid quite a lot to.

Just because he doesn't sound like a rainbow crossing a playground doesn't mean he's not a good commentator.

I'd find a chirpy, exuberant commentator much more annoying.

Yeah he's being paid alot which is why he's there doesn't mean he's actually interested in the game. I suspect he was but he sounds so miserable I found it off putting. Commentators are supposed to get you into the match. Not dull it down.

    Of course he is.

I don't think he dulls it down at all, I enjoy his little comments, and how he refuses to glorify the Ronaldos of the game. But, then, it's all opinion.

For instance, during the half time coverage of Italy vs England, Lineker was desperately grasping at positives for England - and settled on 'Pirlo will get tired'.

Lawro spent the rest of the match saying 'Oh, looks tired doesn't he' every time Pirlo made a great pass. Funny guy.

If that's what you consider funny then I'm no longer surprised that you like his commentary. <whistle>

It wasn't laugh out loud funny... but it was as funny as football commentary really gets. Unless you're Alan Shearer.
