May I be the first to welcome the AVB to Spurs. I wish you success in your new job and hope you realise our ambitions. It's not a bad a job is it! You will inherit a strong squad full of cultured players including some very exciting young talents. From your point of view it is handy that they have not peaked yet, there is still a way to go before they reach their plateau. Spurs are a wealthy club so you should be able to bring in some new talent to mould the team in your image. There is a new stadium on the way, so if you stick around it will only get better. Lucky man! Play your cards right and history is there to be made. We have been waiting for a very long time for the right manager to come along so just take a little time out to acquaint yourself with the history. A few suggestions: We don't want to hear how great you are, we can judge that for ourselves. Please take the league seriously but don't forget our tradition as a cup winning side, both please. Don't go down the road of boring football to get results, you will become very unpopular quite quickly with that strategy. Please choose you words carefully when speaking to the media and remember who is paying your bills. Note the club motto, it is taken very seriously. Last but not least a few words from our very greatest manager which you may find helpful: "It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." Good Luck to you!
Yes I too wish you good luck whoever you are. Keep your mouth shut and let the football do the talking. That applies if you are successful or not. Don't make excuses for bad results.....just sort them out. Tottenham is an old club so I'm prepared to be patient to achieve the right football and results. I do not expect instant success,it's better to build up over time as Fergie at Man U can testify. It was 5 years before he won anything there. Take note of that Levy. If you do come from Chelsea I fully understand that Tottenham isn't as chic or as salubrious an area or as if you come from France but try and ignore that and stick with us. We need a stable manager. Welcome whoever you are again.
Four months in charge isn't long enough to judge somebody at a club but I know what you mean. But Chelsea will be left with egg on their chops if RDM isn't successful and IF it's AVB for us and he is. I too think that we'd be better off with Loew or Blanc but we must decide soon. AVB will be keen to restore his reputation so will work hard for us or anybody else.If it isn't us I can't imagine where else he would go in the PL. I've lost track as to who is coachless.
Whilst my primary concern is for whichever manager we get to get the best out of our players and bring us cup and/or league glory, I cannot deny that it would be fantastic to show the mad-dog Russian oligarch up for what he really is. At least AVB will have something to inspire him - namely, to prove the Russian that he was wrong.
The next manager will have to be a real loser to make a sows ear out of a silk purse. This has to be the chance of a lifetime for any manager. Usually they climb aboard a sinking ship, this time they join a power boat ready to go.
I have a feeling that a Chelsea supporter should soon start a thread welcoming their next new manager.
Spurf you twat..i wanted to do one of these on the day we all found out..well im going to have to come up with something else! but i agree with you wholeheartedly. AVB..we will all be backing you and definately for longer than a few months.
nope this one is fine..i couldnt have put the sentiment better..infact knowing me and my state of mind on weekends i would have made an epic balls up get in Spurs...cant wait for the new season!
New manager, New money, New players !! too good to be true where is the normal kick in b*****ks we get when things look to be going our way !
I miss the old ITKs, over on the BBC 606 site. Some of those were so stupid they were almost inspired.
