Doesnt appear to be one up yet so thought id kick the day off!

A horse that interests me today is Mumbles Head 3.30 Uttoxeter

This horse has won its last three races convincingly, staying on well everytime and is clearly coming back to something like its form as a novice chaser a couple of years back. He was clearly thought a lot of a few years back as he was racing against the likes of Weapons Amnesty, Weird Al and Diamond Harry in novice chases and was hardly disgraced. He then seemed to lose his way with his jumping seeming to let him down on a few occasions. He then went to market rasen off a very low mark of 106 and won easily by 11 lengths. He was up 23lbs when completing his hat trick in the Perth Gold cup which he won by 9 lengths on the bridle. He is up another 13lbs today but the manner in which he won last time suggests to me that that may not be enough to stop him. Another positive is the jockey booking, Tom O'Brien seems to get the best out of this horse, his record under him includes six wins and four seconds from 11 starts. He is also proven on the soft ground. This is a very competitive race but i think Mumbles Head will go very close to winning here.

Going to have a treble on The United States, Sapphire and Famous Name but these are pretty self explanatory so i wont bore you with my reasoning!

I get so deflated with Ballydoyle. They have an array of talent and if they actually let them all race each-other, they might actually build up a legend and also some incredibly good races. But when it comes to the big days, there's always something that spoils the show just lately. A 4 runner Pretty Polly Stakes- what a joke. Irish Racing ought to be amazing to watch but it is becoming more of a snoozefest and that includes NH with their small fields dictated by Gigginstown and Willie Mullins.


3.45 Curragh: NATIVE KHAN 4/1 (NAP)

This is frankly a massive, massive price, and that is what concerns me. Do the bookies know something we don't? Is Oxx just letting him have a run out today to get him on the gradual comeback trail? If Native Khan is fuly tuned up here I think he is the best horse in the field by 3L comfortably. I think on all known form Famous Nane would not get within 2 and a half lengths of winning an Epsom Derby and on a line through So You Think, he is comfortably, comfortably short of Group1 level. Native Khan is not- he belongs in Group 1 & 2 races and can begin with a bang today over what seems a good trip for him.

I'll take UP to win the Pretty Polly in a farcical tactical affair where she actually might make all and keep it simple. She has ran very well all starts this year (terrible trip in the French Oaks), the penny is beginning to drop, and I actually think if Colm just looks to kick on from the front, she might have enough to hold them off at a value 7/1. I remember RV saying a while ago if she was not so green she would be very good and I was totally in unison with him on that, and I have seen more than enough to sugest since then that she has improved and is a serious filly.
 
Native Khan has to win if fit. Same as me as for wondering how he can be 4's and Famous Name so short a price.

HM The Queen looks to have a winner at Windsor to me today, Stoute/Moore.
 
Toppy I think Imperial Monarch would have won that Irish Derby yesterday my friend. Very disappointing that they withdrew him because of the ground yet let Camelot run. Saying that it is good for racing that he did but he clearly wasn't handling the ground at all well. If BTS was closer at the time when he wandered he would have been taken out almost.

UP for me today as well <ok>. I totally understand why they have withdrawn WAS and Maybe mind after looking at the ground yesterday <ok>
 
Gone with Sejalaat in the Salisbury opener. Looks a good chance up in trip on 2nd start having been hampered and staying on strongly over 6f on debut. Would prefer Hanagan on board. Any word on how he is after yesterday?

Totally agree RV and that was what I was trying to explain to a few people yesterday when I say Camelot was protected. I think they know he is the better horse of the two overall but I get the feeling they knew Imperial Monarch would have gone seriously close yesterday on that ground. Will be interesting to see how IM gets on in his own right when he next gets chance. Looking forward to seeing Camelot on good ground next, exceptional mover he is. Would you go triple-crown RV or head to Arc/Breeders Cup?
 
Toppy <ok> I am sure Imperial Monarch will win races and I guess he will remain in training as a 4yo.

If I owned Camelot it would be Triple Crown and then Arc. I know it is a very hard route to go but hey I would be willing to take the chance. Shame I don't own him eh <laugh>
