Willems (the "poor kid who got ripped up") is their version of Chamberlain. Not playing because he's the best option, but he's young and likely the future of the position for the team so might as well give him experience.

I do wonder if Willems got taken purely because he is from a big club (PSV) ?

Happens over here so why not over there.

Arguably but after losing Erick Pieters to injury they were left with the option of a handful of uncapped players or moving someone out of position. I guess they thought Willems was the most likely to play there in the future so they took him. In fairness he wasn't the only one to underperform.

Clarence Seedorf has signed for Botofogo... Whats interesting is its the 'biggest' contract for a foreigner made by a Brazilian club. Thought his next challenge wasn't money motivated? But then again I don't know what Brazilian players get paid.

Jesus Christ!

There is no rush to make new signings!!

Window closes in two months!

West Ham are choosing to buy a whole new team and as proven before, it doesn't work!

West Ham have signed George McCartney from Sunderland. Everyone seems to be signing right, left and centre. Not saying we wanted any of these players, but I want news NOW. Deep breaths, deep breaths.

Bahahahaha more fool them. The guy is woeful. My Uncle is a Sunderland fan and I've spoken to other Sunderland fans who say he is awful.

Some of the West Ham guys I know from round here don't rate him either. In fact in the 2nd half of the season, they had Taylor at LB and Vaz Te at LM.

He's on a £40k+ p/w deal at West Ham as well supposedly. Mad.

Apparently his wife is Brazilian, so maybe she wanted to return home?

And defensively, Taylor was beyond shocking. West Ham got away with it because, quite frankly, there were so few right-wingers to take advantage of Taylor (although that's not to say no-one did. Tom Ince, for example, had a field day against in the first half of the play-off final). And as the guy is so good going forward at that level - whilst Fox and Harte both have exceptional dead-ball deliveries, I'd argue that Taylor had the best open-play delivery of any LB in the Championship last season - that it made sense to play him.

However in the PL, Taylor would get absolutely destroyed.

Don't panic.

Wheels are quietly and effeciently churning away at St Mary's as we speak and in the next couple of weeks we shall be surprised at the four wonderful players Nicola and Nigel (I nearly wrote Nigela) have plucked from under the noses of the other clubs.

No panic buys or chucking stupid money around just sensible, solid and highly skilled players with the right attitude for our club.

Remember it is "The Southampton Way".

Just keep an eye on the OS.

Never understood why people just want signings. We could sign 20 players tomorrow by scowling through the released lists. Most of them would be ****e.

People are not worried because they just want some signings now.

People might be starting to worry because the more time that passes, the less likely it seems that we are doing well in the transfer market and securing our high priority signings. We got Rodriguez because he was pretty high, if not number one on our want list for strikers. Now that its July one might assume that in other areas, defence, cover goalie, right midfield etc that we are in major need for enforcing, we are losing out on our most wanted.

Which brings me back to my point, people arent worried because they dont think NA and NC are doing anything, they are worrying that we could be losing out on our most wanted signings and will have to make do with lesser players. I will admit I have been a bit guilty of this, I guess its just the usual transfer window excitement. Love it :D

I don't want signings for signings sake (which I think WHU are doing, just vacuuming up a lot of players and hope some stick). What concerns me (see not worrying) is that NC/NA had potential signings lined up (according to Nigel himself) but have managed only JRod. Is it that we are going for the best and the best keep choosing someone else or are they just ironing out wrinkles (now I would pay for a machine that could do that<laugh>).
