Any excuse to stick another one over on Harry eh? If something can be interpreted as anti-Harry let's go for it, not enough that he's got sacked.

The bile on here against Harry is astonishing. Anyone would think we performed badly under him. How long until you turn on the next guy? I do realise that the anti-Harry brigade are much in the ascendency on this board, and attempting to suggest we might have done rather well under him is not popular, but nevertheless please be advised that as odd as it may appear to you, rather a lot of people wanted Harry to carry on.

Having said that I'll give my full support to the new guy. I'm just a bit sceptical that this has moved the club forward at all. Believe me I'd love to be proved wrong.

No one knows if the next man will move Spurs forward, it's just a plan. The bile as you put it vimhawk is as it has always been because he cannot stop talking to the media. He contradicts himself all the time but always with the aim of putting himself in the best possible light. It's simple really, if Harry shuts up we shut up.

You should not be astonished, as these debates for and against have been fully aired and both sides have fully explained their reasoning. I can understand that many fans are surprised that after our best ever run in the PL we sack the manager. On the other side we have explained why we think it was correct to move on and change the management.

I don't expect you to agree, but i would expect you to understand the points being made,there have been enough of them.
 
Harry has every right to call them "his team", they played the way he wanted them to play and they played for him because they respected him. Some of you seem to think a manager can only claim a team as his if he brought them all to the club, how many managers do you think have actually done this, i can think of two SAF and Wenger with Moyes as a possible third. Nobody slates the special one for calling Chelsea his team but how many of that squad did he bring to the club.

If you finish 6th, 8th and 7th in the next three seasons with the same players or "better" replacements will you still feel the same?
I have said on here before, Harry`s biggest problem is he is too honest when talking to the press, he answers the questions from the heart and not the head.

In case that went over your head Diego do you really think that if we finished 6 7 8 I would say oh yes! Harry never spoke all the time to the media I must have got it wrong.

You might have noticed my first sentence where I suggest that we do not know if Spurs will improve or not.

Next time it might be an idea to read the comment that you are commenting on.

i can second what Spurf said.

Many of us know that the new manager does not come with a magic wand.We have recognised it and taken it into consideration..and there are not many of us that will turn on our new manager for our finishing positions as we are all well aware that we may have to take a few steps back in the hope of going forward on a long term strategy...this was Levy's or even Joe Lewis's idea.


and we all seem to be backing it because most of us know that our club is in good hands...so 'No' i doubt we will turn on the new man...unless he totally plummets and does a Ramos in which case why should we not turn on him? our club has plummeted...however a few steps back...naaah...thats no problem.
 
Sorry, i can`t see how a manager speaking to the press should be detrimental to his standing as a manager with a teams supporters, SAF is hated by many opposition supporters for some of his press comments but i would not have anyone in his place until he can no longer go on.

It's not his standing with the fans that counts it is his standing with the Chairman, but let me give you one example from many. When our chairman Levy was fighting tooth & nail to keep Modric last season, Harry was quoted as saying that we would have to let him go.

SAF's comments are always in support of Man United, Redknapps comments are always in support of Redknapp. I support Spurs not Redknapp.

Have you thought that maybe Harry had someone in mind to replace Modders who could have been better for the team? no one is bigger than the club, not even Modric who had expressed a desire to leave to your biggest rivals.

And you don't think Harry would have said anything about who that might be. Come on! Harry said only yesterday(in fact in the article that sparked this debate) that Modric was irreplaceable. Mind you who knows what he will say tomorrow.

Look Harry has gone, he is history as far as Spurs are concerned and Spurs fans are split, probably quite evenly on whether they are pleased or not with the sacking.

We move on.

Yep, i agree you have to move on. I never liked Harry as a person after what happened with Portsmouth and Southampton but have to admire him for what he achieved at your club and just feel that you owe him some kind of loyalty instead of jumping on the "Harry is out for himself" band wagon.

Yes, exactly. As I said earlier, it's all about Harry. Once you realise that virtually everything he says is not in support of whatever team he happens to managing, but in either the defence, or the aggrandisement, of his own reputation, then you see what he's really all about.

Loyalty! you ARE joking I take it! What utter bollocks, what are you admiring? You swallow to much media rubbish. Harry Redknapp has shown loyalty to himself and little else. He was after the Liverpool job when Hodgson went is THAT Loyalty?

What did he achieve exactly? Spurs were already knocking on the door with Jol before he came. He would have you believe he dragged us up from nowhere with his over hyped 2 points from 8 games. He actually had a worse run than that during his last season. I will give him credit for allowing the players to express themselves and play some good football. For identifying the need for some steel in midfield and employing Parker. He didn't actually WIN anything.

Try listening to the man and his constant ducking and diving. i have not jumped on any band wagon I was complaining about Redknapp from the time he ridiculed Bent to the media. I don't rate Bent at all as it happens but he was playing for Harry at the time. Ask Pavlyuchenko, Gio Dos Santos, Kranjcar, Corluka, ask them if they think he is a good man manager. All have been 'outed' by Harry to his media 'friends' at one time or another.

For a man like Harry Redknapp to lead a club like Spurs is an embarrassment IMO and I would think that even if he HAD won something at Spurs.

What I am proud of are the large number of Spurs fans who see through the media hype and all the bullshit that surrounds him and football in these times. I, like many, love the game of football and the proud traditions of Spurs. What I don't buy is that managers and players necessarily share that feeling. Some do, but many are are quite happy to kiss the badge of the highest bidder.

I have already spent too much time on this subject, but it's not going away because this board is still full of people telling us what a great bloke he was and how lucky we were to have him. I suspect it will drag on some more because Harry will keep on spouting his garbage to the media, and as you should know they just love garbage.
 
If I had ever heard Harry - just once, accept that anything that went wrong was his fault. If he had ever just put his hands up, I might have given the guy a bit more credibility. Fact is, though, he never does. Very quick to grab all the credit when it's all going well - just as quick to blame anything, and everybody else, when it's not.
 
I totally agree with all you posted Spurf. Somebody else said that Harry wasn't the sort of character to lead Spurs and that he would be an embarrassment but I can't remember who. I felt we needed a more sophisticated type like Capello. As you put it we didn't win anything with him and there was a court case. Who the hell needs that rubbish? I totally agree with his passing as I posted many times and am hopeful for the future.
