We now need a third kit as we cannot wear our away kit to Sunderland and Stoke. I hope Southampton have realised it. We now need a yellow/blue kit so it has been a major mess up by Umbro/Southampton.

yeah, a major mess up, because we've never needed a third kit before have we?????

You say yellow and blue (which I love), but what about the cool black one or the grey one, or the navy blue one ..... oh my goodness, I've just realised how many times we've ruined tradition in the past... it's almost a traditon to do that!

And what about a fluoro orange one, ala barca???

Seeing as we like copying Liverpool kits, lets just steal theirs for our 3rd kit

No we don't. The home kit will be fine at Stoke and either will be fine at Sunderland.

It will look very red on tv, will barely be able to make out the pinstripes I think, so pretty sure they/we will have to wear something else. Other teams who play in very red kits wear their aways at Stoke and Sunderland, and our away is too much like their homes. Only solution is for them to wear their away kit, or we have a 3rd kit.

I just made this on fifa creation centre, this might be ok, sorry the badge is a bit dodgy.
Edit: And a little bit small.

Stoke play in white shorts, so I think we will be able to wear our home kit there. The shirts are quite a bit different, a lot more white on Stokes shirt. Having said all that, we don't know what Stokes and Sunderlands kits are like this year.

Stokes:

Sunderland havent released their home yet I dont think. As mentioned before, Liverpool play in red shorts but always wear their away kit at these games, but it maybe becuase their away is so much different to Stoke/Sunderland that it makes more sense to wear it. I don't know if we will get special treatment because our away is too similar/we don't have a third kit and we will be able to wear the home.

As with previous years, I wouldn't be surprised to see us using the away kit's shorts with the home kit when playing teams that have red shorts and vice versa with the white shorts.

Personally, it's not my favourite kit by a long shot. Completely ignoring the boring argument over tradition, I still don't like the design of the kit. I think it's lazy and boring, nothing to set us apart from a multitude of other clubs.

But because it's Southampton, I will get behind the team and no doubt grow to love the kit just as much (if not more) than previous strips after we start smashing a few goals past City.

Because ultimately that's what it's all about when you think back to your favourite kits isn't it? Most people when asked which previous kit is their favourite, respond with a kit that was worn during a successful period, or when they first started supporting the club etc.

It's not the design of the kits that counts, it's the memories that you make whilst wearing them.

The away kit will be fine. Fulham and Bolton both wore white at Sunderland, I am sure we will manage.

I asked this in the New Kit thread, I'm guessing saints will just apply our current yellow away kit as a third kit to make life easier for those 2 games and for the possibility of Sheffield Utd or Brentford away in the cup.

Cant we wear our away kit with the red shorts?
