The Olympics is already demeaned for me knowing that the lying, cheating, scumbag that is Dwain Chambers will be allowed by the rest of the world to pull on a GB vest!

Should horse racing be an Olympic sport?*

Surely it has as much right as the other equestrian sports:biggrin:*

Gents, are we fooling our selves here? Is it possible to compete at the highest level without cheating? Some will say that it is, backing that up by pointing out that most athletes test clean, but I've seen written plenty of times, that the detection of drugs is a decade behind the practices of the athlete today. Are we naive in believing that the games are clean?

They should also introduce snooker and darts, and have a category for each age group 20-25, 25-30, 30-35 and so on.*

Then we will run away with the medals table!*

Cyc as you well know, with the Tour De France coming up soon, that the human body can only get to certain levels of performance and can only go so far. The Tour is widely condemned ever year and to be truthful what they have to do for a month beggars belief at times. But how far can the human body evolve...

In, say, 50 years time the human body may have developed or evolved to which people could run the 100m's to a sub 9.0 time but at the moment some sporting records have been destroyed by so far, so soon that you have to have one eye on the drugs... Flo-Jo is the most high profile one for me, sadly she has since died and so we will never know, but her time for the 100m's hasnt looked like being beaten, and she got that time back in 1988. So that Is one record that you have to say is very, very dodgy...

You have to believe that they are 'clean' but to be honest some will always slip through the net... My biggest fear is that Usain Bolt has used drugs to enhance his times... If that was the case i think i would give up on athletics once and for all... And that would be a sad sad day...:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Redcgull....The drug testing in Jamaica is very poor, there athletes cannot be tested during the close season. Therefore they could train on some drugs, and then have them out of there system by the time they compete.

In this country our athletes can be tested all year round, even on Xmas day, if the testers wanted to.*

I don't know wether Usain Bolt has taken drugs, nor do I know if any other Jamaican athlete has, though what I do know is they produce a heck of alot of good athletes for a country so small:biggrin:*

Jamaica is no different form any other country, it has a history of drug cheating. Yohan Blake, Allodin Fothergill, Sheri-Ann Brooks, Marvin Anderson and Lanceford Spence all recieved a 3 month ban after using a sports drink. The 2001 World Championships 200m silver medalist Christopher Williams was rubbed out for 2 years. Now of course we have the Steve Mullings case.

I don't know whether it's just the tall poppy syndrome Shergy, but as you hinted at, there have been many voices raised against Bolt's 100 -200 records.

Its just so ironic that drug cheats get back into their chosen sport now. If you are caught even once with illeagal substances in your system you should be banned for life in all competition.

Im with you cyc... Cant wait for the olympics to start... There is always one event/sport that catches the eye every time its on. I know that Bolt will get the majority of the headlines but in truth there is so much to watch you find yourself drawn into to watching a sport you wouldn't usually watch... And i dont mean Womens Beach Volley Ball...<whistle>

I don't know if I reflect the minority of the British public but I can't be alone in saying that I really don't care about the Olympics.
