If people are concerned about the amount of time it takes to make a decision then simply put a clock on it. For example, if the result can't be adjusted within 30 secs (say) of the incident, then the decision stands, because given the amount of video available, if it isn't obvious in 30 seconds then it isn't obvious and the video clearly can't help anyway.

i dont see how it will take too long Vim...players surround the ref and protest with the ref for much longer than 30 seconds after a dodgy decision anyway ...which always results in a delay in resuming play .

Portugal are to football what wasps are to picnics - annoying, hateful, and deserving of being on the receiving end of a rolled up newspaper swung with excessive force.

The Czechs didn't play at all. Portugal easily deserved it. They will take some stopping.

I don't know why the czechs bothered to turn up, thy didn't even try. Worst comes to the worst you can play long ball. They must have all had money on Portugal keeping a clean sheet. I hope England have a go. I'd rather lose 10:0 having a go than give up before kickoff like the Czechs.

The Czechs certainly did play, indeed they were bossing the first half hour and created opportunities, including a couple of breaks into the area - but nobody there to put them away. The closest they came was Baros being just short of Gebre Selassie's square ball in the first half.

If anyone didn't play, it was Portugal - lots of niggly fouls, interspersed with some outright nasty fouls and plenty of dives. It was yet another Mourinhoesque performance.

Undoubtedly, the best team won. They were the only ones who looked like scoring. Or indeed, looked like they weren't playing for a penalty shoot out.

The Czechs weren't playing for penalties by any means. If they were playing for penalties, why did they have three strikers on the pitch at the end?

I didn't mention anything about penalties. What I'm saying is Portugal dominated more than any team in this competition. So the knockout stage arrives and the goal scoring shrinks.

If they did, they weren't doing much striking. They tried to play on the break, especially second half. Eventually, they seemed happy to play for penalties, until Portugal scored, at last.

Fairly clean game from Portugal but then they were not under a lot of pressure.

Some of Portugal's passing is shocking, it's no wonder Ronaldo gets so pissed off.

Apart from Nani punching somebody in the back of the head, Coentrao body checking somebody, Pepe playing with his elbow, and plenty of niggly fouls inbetween...

I think that the balance of Portugal's midfield seems a little off, somehow.
One of their central three needs to get into more advanced positions.
It's all a little flat, though they were far better than the Czechs, from what I saw of the game.

Hopefully the Germans dump them out the tournament in the semis - for all the attacking gifts they have, they're a cynical, nasty bunch that sit deep and kick you if you dare to cross the halfway line. Also, the less fawning over the most overrated player in world football instead of balanced commentary, the better.
