I'd love for Brad to come back, he's a ****ing lovely guy and a top keeper for this level. I remember when he had to resist knocking Morison out after he'd blatently studded him out of nowhere, also the game he pretty much won for us a Portsmouth shows that he's got more than enough ability to shine too.
I could never make my mind up about Guzan. However, earlier this Season when he was getting used as a replacement for Given, he made some bloody good saves and looked to be a good Premier League Keeper. I'd take him back no doubt.
One big stumbling block here, hasn't Guzan already been refused a visa and has to return to the US? And even if not, he's barely played a game, it's highly unlikely he'll get one.
I thought that was the big issue. When he went back to Villa last time, all the talk was about how he wasn't a potential signing, because he was certain to lose his visa. But all the talk this summer has been about him finding a club in England. I can't see that happening without someone checking about the visa situation. No ones going to agree a deal before even querying the visa. Has he married a European maybe? That would get rid of the need for a visa.
I thought that got resolved? It can't be that hard for an American to get a Visa here especially when he'll earn as much as he will for them to tax?!
I just googled Brad Guzan and wife, and came up with this, dated July 1st 2011... http://www.thedenimkit.com/2011/07/01/brad-guzans-wedding-the-trailer-video/ I would guess she'll be European, since absolutely no one is mentioning visa problems now, If she's from anywhere in the EU, he'd be now free to work here.
It's standard employment visa for footballers. They need to be an international, and have actually turned out for the national team, if they are not from the EU. Think about our internationals over the years. Even Geovanni had turned out for Brazil. For some reason, Guzan's lack of appearances meant that he was no longer eligible. When he left it was being reported like it was just a sad fact he had to head home. Something seems to have changed.
"despite the Tigers declaring a keen interest in the free agent over the last seven days." hmmm in the last 7 days hdm havn't printed anything to corroborate that. more bullshit from the ****ness of hdm nothing absolultly nothing has come pout of city in the way of leaks. ffs 3 days ater bruce got the job they was quoting the press conference as new news. no **** knows anything. if its a fact fookin print it!
Once they're here and have a permit I'm sure you can apply for a new one on the basis of club appearances without also needing the internationals. Given's injury and his performances in that time could be used as an argument that he would be a significant contributor to a team (they use the argument a lot with young kids they're signing that haven't got the internationals yet).
