Well hopefully this thread will start a little bit of interest even if it's only curious watchers. There has been an accusation that we seem to be somewhat fixated with our near neighbours by one of our resident non rent payers , so I thought I would just mention something we all seem to have avoided talking about for some time. Here I am stuffed with chocolates and beer on Fathers Day having just watched the Carling Cup Final again. Yep, the reds v the bluebirds. Sometimes it's easy to forget just how fantastic being a Cardiff City fan can be. Those goals by Mason and Turner made me shiver with excitement even now.In the end just the last penalty saw us lose a major trophy this season. We showed the world, 151 countries in all, just how special this club is and earned plaudits from everyone for the courage displayed by this developing side. Things can only get better. Now how many thought this was going to be a cup final thread?
I've heard that players and managers aspire to play / manage teams that go to / have been to cup finals. Anyone spring to mind?
Apart from being so proud of how those guys performed on the day, the comments of Alan Shearer after the game will live long in my memory. Hearing him talk so enthusiastically of his respect for the club and his clearly sincere wish to see us in the top flight again, reinforced my devotion to this club with all it's heritage.
And to think, he could have been our manager. I know he was a great player and goal scorer, but not acheived anything as a manager. Just because you were a great player doesn't mean you'll make a great manager.
back to the thread we went on such a journey in the cup run, really was an incredible day at wembley even though we lost, totally different feel about a cup final than a play off final where players play with fear and fans fear failure.........
