Having read a few posts on here I am suddenly filled with more confidence than I was looking at it on paper so much so I know see a figure of 9 points after 5 games. Mr Bravery now
15 would be nice, 7 to 9 is more realistic. I think first game of the season is a great time to play Man City so you never know.
QPR fan in peace. Good to have you guys back in the top flight and wish you all the best for the season. Many Rangers fans like myself will be looking forward to the away game at st Mary's (great awayday for pubs/fans/banter).
I've just been Adkinized. Just watched his interview on Player...these fixtures are apparently fantastic and exciting. When asked how many points from first four matches, he replied 3 points per game, 4 games...you do the maths. That's what we've been missing...Nigel!!
Indeed. These past two seasons have completely blown most people away, and although from this stand point, I can see the progress slowing, as we reach the top, there should be no loss of optimism. I'm not going to predict because Saints will undoubtedly make my prediction look stupid anyway. Like last season, after 10 games, we might have a ghost of an idea.
In the Prem there is no such thing now. You will get full respect as a Premiership team. Funny division now, we said we would beat Fulham,Bolton,Wigan,Norwich,Blackburn,Sunderland and we lost? We also said we would lose to Chelsea,Arsenal,Liverpool,Spurs,Everton and we won? You cannot really say who you can and cant beat.
great to play the top 3 clubs in the first 4 games, NA and the squad will know exactly where we stand with our strengths and weaknesses, also Arse and Manu are really slow starters(so are we normally) so we need a really good pre-season--- anyone know where pre-season will be held??
Better to get some tough games in early doors. I think the fixtures are going to work to our advantage. 4 points from first 5 games and we will be in good shape.
You could argue for preferring an easy or a tough start. If would be great to get something from these early games, but at least no one expects too much. Imagine having an 'easy' start and still not getting many points. That would do more damage to confidence than losing to the Manchester clubs.
Maybe right. Although Wigan will be wary not to do it again and will carry momentum into this season from the back of last
OK welcome to our site, how about we make a deal, we beat you twice, you beat everyone else, can't ask for better than that?
I think playing some of the top teams early could be good. As said previously they will be distracted with late comers from the summer games while we will have the squad together for the whole preseason. The boys will be up for it to prove what they can do while the "big" teams may discount us as a Championship club. I would certainly not be expecting points from some of these games but if we are going to get them it is early in the season. Might as well get those away games out of the way.
Ehh, we could get something from Villa, depends if y'know they decide to play football this season, and Wigan too.
How many of Citeh's first team are out at the Euros, the same with Manu and Arsenal? Good opportunity to win one at least. I would be v happy to get between 6 and 9 points from the first five games.
Last season we started at full pelt...how valuable were those early wins before some teams even knew we were there. Need a great preseason again...can trust Nigel and his team on that. We can look for miracles, but the top sides in the PL won't be caught out so easily. Any points we get will be hard earned. Hoping the style of the good teams will give us the space we need to play our own way.
Hull City fan in peace. ++++++++++++++++ There is always one team that gets stitched up by the fixture gods in the PL. Last season it was Bolton. IMO, anything other than zero points after the five opening games and you have done ok. I can see you beating Villa more than Wigan actually. Whatever happens good luck and enjoy the ride. Its over 38 games not 5. At least you have a better end to the season fixture wise. I can see Saints being alot like Norwich last season. Reading - West Ham and maybe Stoke or WBA for the drop. All the best.
