Bo was a good keeper and he was poorly blamed for distribution when all you could see were the backs of heads - box command is where he needs a very strong couple of centre backs. I would have him and £500-750K is probably about his current worth - old Tiger or not, he is in today's market! Mannone for £1 - 1.5M would be first choice.

Unless it's a free, then the salary will tend to follow the transfer fee: add-on bonus and appearance money is usually fairly standard unless you have a high profile player - Bo is a cracking guy, but he is not a high profile player!

I'd rather us go for Mannone and haven't we already signed this Jakupovic guy or whatever he's called? Or has that gone by the wayside now that Barmby's gone? Either way I'd welcome Bo back but as I've mentioned Mannone would be my no.1 choice.

It's not childish and why write YOUR opinion in capitals? You value Bo at 400k, well I give YOUR opinion a big fat zero mate

I use capitals to remind you that I'm not stating it as fact but rather just giving you my thoughts. If you pay 750K for him you are overpaying on sentimental value alone.

I have no idea, but I've never agreed with that saying.
Mannone came back and we all still wanted him permanently.
Deano came back and he saved us from relegation and got us promoted.

IMO, Deano and Vito have both proved that going back can indeed be a good thing. :emoticon-0103-cool:

If this is true and we both have bids accepted it's not even a contest. Unlike some, Bo loved living here and got right into the spirit. Top bloke, a decent keeper at this level and it would be nice to see him back in another good PR win.

Bo would come back in a flash IF we wanted him. Then again, like Turner we can have him for nothing next summer.
Both Just need both to see out there final year.

I dont understand. How can re-signing someone who is pretty much a club legend not be considered a good move in getting the fans onside towards a new regime?

It would split the fans this one imo. I would take Bo back but not for more than £400,000. He is free next summer.

Could get Mannone for that plus add-ons, and a far better option. Bo would be good back up though

Very true on both at the correct price.

The source for this story was the Sunday People, I've no idea if there's anything in it, but he never wanted to leave and would probably jump at the chance to return.

T W T

Mannone would want top dollar though and probably double what Boaz would want. It it helped strengthen another area then Boaz + AN Other(s) for me

Vito has to be top priority for 2 reasons IMO. 1)He wants to come here so wont be as expensive as many think,, and 2)He knows the club and team and more importantly the defence he plays behind. A new keeper would have to start from scratch.

Vito wants to come back. He has made it quite clear to everyone.

I would have Bo back. But would prefer Mannone though. Haven't we already signed
Jakupović for next season?

It appears that like Dawson the contract did not get signed.

Is there anything in the Thomas Kusczak rumour?

Yes. Contact has been made and TK is thinking the offer over it appears.

I'd sooner have Mannone myself but theres nothing wrong with Bo, shame some of us think he's just a 400k spare part

No but why pay anymore when we can have him for Free next summer ?

No, it means they have done at least one. I would suggest that appointing a manager who has spent, was it 8 of the previous 10 years in the Prem?, as a good PR move.

Point taken. Like I said, I wasn't sure if you were being serious at first.

Fair enough. For me he is a top Championship keeper and worth more than 400k. If we paid that for him I'd be delighted, but it isn't a true reflection of his value.

Out of interest why would you want Smithies, has probably been one of the worst goalkeepers in League 1 this year. Admittedly is quite young and was pretty decent before this year but has been absolutely terrible lately

I know at one point He was rated as a very promising young keeper. And last season He missed alot through injury I believe. Admittedly I havent seen alot of him, but a bloke I work with is a Huddersfield fan and is always raving about him.

It's all relative in terms of transfer fees: signing Bo for (argument's sake) 400k would be a considerably poorer deal than signing Mannone for 1.5m, if Bo will go down in value but Mannone's value increases with experience of games.

Bo and Mannone fighting for the shirt really would be a coup!

I would be split between mind and heart. I know Mannone is a slightly better Goalkeeper overall, however, with Myhill being one of the legends to be with us through all 4 divisions, I have a soft spot for him...<wah>

I would love Bo back, quality player, who cared for the club and wanted to be here. However if we have limited funs available for transfer i would rather us go for a free or a loan. However i think i would prefer spending the money on Mannone whose distribution is far better, but if where not playing the way we started under Barmby distribution matters little and shot stopping, which in that case i prefer Bo. Either way they are both good keepers.

Distribution could arguably be more important if we play a different way. If we wanted to start hoofing it, the accuracy of the keeper's kicks might be very important.

To be fair to Steve Bruce he does like to play it on the deck. His teams are not known for there hoof ball tactics.

Sunderlands 3-0 win @ Chelsea 2 season ago was classic on the deck football. We just need a another goal scorer.

I'd be happy with either, i'm sure Bo would be a cheaper fee but could well be more expensive in wages. He was a starting Prem goalkeeper for long enough that his wage must be pretty healthy and Mannone despite only being young played for a top club and at one point was a top prospect for them.

But as this thread is titled Bo Myhill, i'll take it as an excuse to show one of my favourite youtube videos

Myhill is a better keeper than Mannone currently, Mannone is younger though but I still think Bo for 750k is a decent fee, in all honesty I think we would much rather have Craig Gordon on a free transfer rather than paying money for Mannone or Myhill but Craig Gordon still is Premier League quality and he knows that, so we probaly won't get him. Tbh I don't know if Jakupovic has signed yet but if he has, why is everyone considering him as a Championship backup keeper, surely a keeper like him with interest from Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle must mean he's good enough for a Championship starting lineup.
