As things stand, Italy would win Group C with Spain finishing second. With England still capable of finishing first, second or third; if things remain as they are tonight, would you rather win the group and face Spain or finish second and face an Italy team who would have finished above Spain?

Croatia have actually nullified Spain pretty well despite a lack of top defenders, and Del Bosque wanted a goal, so withdrew a striker and brought on a midfielder. Italy also gave Spain a good match and thoroughly deserved the draw when they played - the Italians are being criminally underrated IMO.
 
Are Spain all that? Yes they are. If England play Spain itll be park the bus, defend solidly, keep the shape and hope that in the 27% of the game in possession either Rooney or a set piece works some magic.
 
It will be very hard for Spain to score against us in open play. I'd almost fancy us more against Spain than Italy. Although in both instances I'd fancy us less than the opponent lol
 
Spain don't look to have the passion and integrity which they had in the World Cup. They would manage to keep all the possession and a slight lapse of concentration in our back line, will be exploited. However, they seem to be easier to beat than they were a couple of years ago. I wouldn't right us off if we get Spain.
 
Let's be honest ... Spain are the favourites in any game they go into right now (except against Germany).

But the good news is that Hodgson has experience setting up against technically superior opponents, so bar some stupidity in the defence we should at least make things difficult for them.
 
We have to get a point against Ukraine yet, in their back yard.

Hopefully we can, but let's worry about potential Q/F opponents if and when.

Sweden found it pretty easy so I don't think Spain will have too much problem. our defence is nowhere near as good as it was.Spain do miss David Villa's goals alot though and I dont see this team scoring a hatfull against anyone half decent.

Sweden scored from set pieces not open play, their main threat from open play was direct balls played in behind the defense for Ibrahimovic to use his pace and that's something the Spanish are unlikely to try, especially if they start without a recognised striker again. Spain will try and pass the team to sleep while England defend like Chelsea did against Barcelona, the biggest question is will England be able to see enough of the ball to actually create a chance or two, we still have to get past Ukraine first of course.
