I was quietly confident that the Czech Republic would make it out of the group stage., Mind you, I thought Croatia would make it out too....... Anyhow,. most pundits didn't give'um a chance at the start of the tournament. Now all the Czechs need to do is hit the Portuguese with a couple of goals on the break and 'hey presto', games over.
I assume there will be a prize for the person(s) (thats me) who drew-out the most unlikely team to make it to the simi(s) ?.

In the spirit of gracious sportsmanship and fair play, I'd like to congratulate the dirty Spanish group of cheats and their ref pal who committed/missed a really blatant shirt pull near the end of the game in front of goal which robbed Croatia of a richly deserved victory. The reason why not just football, but the entire universe is going straight to hell, is that because the Croatian player reacted as a sportsman should, which is to say that he didn't resort to despicable histrionics, he didn't get the call. Also, UEFA officials should be publicly pissed on and shot for their farcical tiebreaking procedure which also cost mighty Croatia their rightful spot in the next round.

Just pretending to bemoan my exit from the sweepstakes without a prize--though I was a little amazed at the shirt pull and the non-reaction. Kind of like Croatia though. In my city, you tend to be either pro-Croatian or pro-Serb, since there are a lot of both and they don't like each other. And I've had a bunch of Croatian friends and one Croatian girlfriend. Plus I had a really interesting time traveling through Croatia a couple of weeks before the civil war broke out.
