It was 3.50 in the morning when I started writing this, cant sleep, sad I know but that’s what my football team has done to me. Its only football I know and I really should be old enough to know better but it seems I’m not.

I have been through many dark times over my years following Sunderland but yesterday afternoon, during the second half is up there with the worst. Its not the defeat or the performance, seen worse and it’s not the relegation threat, don’t see one because there are teams worse off than even us. The thing that leaves me down is that I have no idea what Bruce does next, not sure he has.

I love Bruce, think he is one of the good guys, a genuine man who wants to succeed and wants my club to succeed. At other dark times I could see his next move, get those injured players back, get some quality in, well we did that. Are Turner and Welbeck 100%, don’t know but they not the problem and did we miss Richardson and Mensah yesterday when we lost them? Mensah no, we had Anton to come on and its not the defence that is the problem. Richardson yes but should we have missed him with Zenden, Colbeck, Sess and Muntari on the bench, not really.

Are Sess and Muntari bad players, no so why do they look it. Why did we end up with 2 30 year olds in Midfield who we know are not ball winners, we know cant chase back and close down?

What do we do next weekend, we dropped Henderson, Muntari and Sess because they did not work, why will they next week. We ended yesterday with Steed and Zenden, it did not work, why should it next weekend, brings me to my point.

I don’t know the answer but expect Bruce will, problem is I no longer have the confidence he does.

    I wonder if Short does?

I really think Bruce has reached the limits of his ability. From day one I thought he would do a good job and keep us in the league and I have supported him.

However in all honesty I didn't think he would be able to take us to the next level and that seems to be becomming more evident.

    Where to next.

Good morning Syd, and fellow Sunderland supporters.
I wish I knew the answers to all your questions. At the moment we seem to be a club that has lost all heart and confidence, right down from the manager to the supporters. In the second half in particular, our team were second to every ball and couldn't pass for toffee. Our supporters didn't give the team the backing when it was most needed (it's easy to sing and shout when you are leading)! And the manager looked at a loss as to what was going wrong. I can't remember the last time I left a game feeling so low, but I suspect it was back when Wilkinson was in charge.

Thought the fans did their bit however it is disheartening when it appears that your team is not even trying.

Worry is I dont think it was because they did not try, just seemed cluless in midfield, out played, out fought, out run

RAW as I have said for the last three seasons on here and old 606 the fans do not play the game and can only shout for so much it's a two way street mate we shout the players play they have not for the last four games and a few more this season. Give us something to shout about and the house will come down play like that and the club will go down.

Said before I sit in the East Stand, always quiet. Well yesterday we made a noise, we tried but the team beat us and shut us up.

My point exactly Syd I was in North Stand for this one (well most of it left when WBA scored their third) and the noise was the best it's been for weeks right up to the point WBA scored their first then the old crowd came back and it was quiet city again.
The last time I left that early was against Charlton after scoring 3 own goals when we went down on 19 points, and to be honest felt worse yesterday at being out played and out fought by a decent but not world beating WBA side. Taking nothing away from them but we have beaten better at SOL this season.
