That was like giving birth. Why do we never do it the easy way? I'd like another win against Ukraine, but It'll be tough. We actually won. Madness.

    I hope not.

I'd go Rooney & Carroll up front with Wallcott and Wellbeck supporting on the wings.

Agree that Young had an absolute mare today.

I think Carroll will be used as a sub in the Ukraine match. Rooney and Welbeck up front, Young and Milner on the wings. I would prefer Walcott over Milner for his pace, but I think Hodgson will use Walcott (like Carroll) as a sub. Hodgson's intent for the game will be shown by his starting line up. I await it with baited breath.

Turns out Young let me down - he was **** in that!

Still think he will have a part to play though. It's important we don't write off players after one bad game.

Gerrard very leggy once again though.

True, not doubt we'll have James "I've not done anything useful in 3 years" Milner on the right, and Ashley "I've had a shocking 2 games" Young on the left.

Sounds good to me. We need Rooney for some extra fire power.

What I am noticing is apart from Walcott, all the top quality crosses are coming from our players.

Gerrard has 2 assists at this tournament, and in some way assisted Walcott's goal to.

Johnson put an awesome cross in for John Terry before the super save.

Johnson pulled off some crucial tackles to.

From a selfish point of view I hope Carroll keeps playing so Gerrard & Johnson can get some more practice at crossing to him. I made the point in an earlier post that he only scores from crosses from deep positions, not from the byline.

Johnson has been England best defender so far, few brilliant last ditch tackles and read the game well to cover the CB's in the first half.

  18. Theo did well when he came on but he always does more damage coming off the bench IMO. He also left Glen Johnson exposed a few times despite only being on for ten minutes!

I think Ashley Young as been poor in both games. If Rooney is to come in, I'd like him to replace Young. Push Welbeck to the left? If this happens that it strengthens the argument to keep Milner in the side, he provides more cover and will help out Gerrard and Parker in the middle.

I suspect Milner will start and Young will be dropped.Roy llikes at least 1 player who tucks in with the 2 cms like Milner, suspect Carroll will be back on bench though this may depend on how good Ukraine defnd crosses on the stats.Suspect Walcott probably or Ox may come in2 the 11 for Young

    I suspect this 2 b front 6

    Walcottt Gerrard Parker Milner
    Welbeck Rooney

Terry was ALSO poo 2nite, Johnson easily best defender

    Agreed.

Not surprised, he put in quite a shift. Last game I saw stat's saying only Milner covered more ground than him (1k more - immense effort that, over 11k). I'd be surprised if many other England players ran as far as Gerrard tonight - he led by example, again!

I would say, simply, 'to avoid Spain'. I know you have to beat the best to win competitions but, let's not kid ourselves, we aren't going to win this competition. We have a better - not much, but better - chance of progression against a weaker side. Winning our group would achieve that. So we need to beat the Ukraine and hope Sweden can get an unlikely result against France. Chances are, though, we'll get beat and the Ukraine will go through with France. As long as we give good account of ourselves, though, I couldn't give a monkey's left testicle! <ok>
