Reminds me of a goal by Guly last season, think it was against Watford. He just feigned a shot whilst standing still with the ball by the penalty spot, with defenders infront of him, and then placed his shot into the bottom corner delicately. Delightful.
Don't know why people here back the ROI or the media's love affair with them for that matter. If they were one of the home countries it would be understandable but they're just another foreign country, and not a very good one at that.
I agree with you and it tends to annoy me a bit too; may as well make a fuss over France or Belgium. But, that said, I guess it's because there are a lot of Irish people living in the UK, Ireland is an Anglophone country and I think the ITV/BBC/Sky broadcasts are also shown over there. But Spain, wow. When they want they'll take any team to the cleaners. Ireland are crap but Spain are on another planet.
Life doesn't work like that. They are a good side who played a poor side tonight, but that could turn out to be Spain's best performance. Another opposition may not suit them....remember us and Bristol City last season.
Anyone see the Italian Trapattoni springing a surprise against his own nation after two dire Irish performances...
