I think the opposite is true. Harry isn't confident in his own ability to get us into the CL again. That's why he wants a 3 year contract. If he was confident he'd just see out the final year of his current contract and negotiate a new one next year Also, even if Harry had won the double this season, the fact that he was shooting his gob off whilst Levy was burying his mother was the biggest disrepect i can think of and i for one would have got rid of him straight away
I think, in short, that he wanted a show of commitment from Levy, which he thought he deserved, despite the England fiasco. When it wasn't forthcoming, it was obvious it was all going to go tits up for him.
Interesting read. Most of the fans feel Moyes will be a decent appointment, I tend to agree. Also with the potential of Moyes bringing Fellaini and Jelavic and the sale of Modric to United, then things are looking positive immediately. Also most of you are realistic and bringing in a top name manager costs huge amounts of money and doesn't always bring success. I feel Spurs are a team on the way up, with next seasons goals being Top 3 or 4, then after a few years a push for the title, but at the end of the day its all about Champions League qualification. As a Sunderland fan living in South Australia, most of us over here love keeping up to date with the top clubs. I love the way Spurs play and the attacking mentality of the club will always be of interest to the neutral fan. All the best for the season, personally I am glad Harry is gone, most non Spurs fans don't like him, me included, hopefully Moyes if he leaves Everton, will get Tottenham Hotspur back into the Champions League where you belong.
Cheers mate I still don't see Fellaini as a replacement for Modric, he's more like Sandro and he's already doing well.
Modric to United? Really? Still perpetrating the myth they have the funds to buy him? Remind me, how did last summer's big money signing Wesley Sneijder get on?
How many of all the big signings did well? Bent, carroll,Torres and Suarez flopped badly so a huge price tag on Modric and playing for Utd will be too much pressure on him. I started this thread and I've nothing more to say about Moyes. Let's please look further afield.
They were supposed to be spending big on Sneijder last summer, with stories being printed every couple of days...and never made a bid. They were linked to Hazard, he said he wanted to go there...and they never made a bid. Man Utd don't have the disposable income to spend £30m+ on a single player.
I did say £30m+ - which is what Sneijder, Hazard, benzema and Modric are all valued at. Custis obviously doesn't know about MUPLC's finances...
That's what his value may well be. However, in this case, it's irrelevant. Levy holds all the cards. And you either pay his valuation, or you don't get Modric. Simple as...
No one will ever pay that for Modric, so I guess Spurs are stuck with a want away player until his contract expires. I have no sympathy for Modric though, he shouldnt have signed such a long contract if he didnt intend to stay. Players never take their contracts seriously nowadays, so serves him right
We offered £40m?!? I thought it was £30m...... Even if we offered £40m that ship has sailed now, I dont think we will offer that again. The only other club stupid enough to make a bid like that would be Man $hitty..... Abroad you are talking only the El Classico clubs and neither of them need/want Modric so looks like he is staying put
but would still be idiots to pay £40m for him. And Modric has made no comment about wanting to play in the French League.
PSG, Man Utd and Real Madrid have all been linked with him and he'd walk into virtually any side you can think of. It wouldn't surprise me to see Chelsea or Man City showing an interest, either. Barry or Modric? If he has a good Euros then his stock will continue to rise. He's proven himself in England, in a league that he was seen to be totally unsuited for and he's talismanic for his country, so his value is extremely high.
Good. So when PSG bid we can accept it only for him to turn them down. Then he can't complain about wanting to leave as we've done all we can in accepting a bid.
Oh he can, and he most likely will, such is the attitude of these millionaire footballers nowadays. I think he wants a move to a club that is currently successful on the trophy front (Chelsea,Barca, City) or one of the prestige mammoth clubs (Utd, Madrid). I dont see PSG making the grade. And if he does go there then it is all about the money, in which case you guys are better shot of him anyway, so I wouldnt worry too much
He can't move to them if they aren't bidding for him, can't afford him or don't want him. Even a footballer can grasp that.
