Ok, maybe saying we are better than Utd on paper is pushing it. But i truly believe we have more quality than Arsenal and what Chelsea had last season. Although they have improved a fair amount this close season. So maybe 3rd best squad. Still, my point is that we weren't overperforming last season. Next season will be different and i don't think any of us can expect 4th no matter who the manager is. Pool have a new man in charge and will no doubt chuck money around. Chelsea have already spent the best part of £40m (not including Hulk who i'm not sure has signed or not). Arsenal are strengthening nicely. City and Utd will of course be up there again.
Yet there's an exodus at Arsenal every summer, even though their manager is disturbingly safe in his job.
I do see Motes improving us. We have to be realistic. Yes, we'd all like a Mourinho or a Ancelotti. It ain't gonna happen! There's been a delay in the Vertonghen situation, and Levy was the one conducting the negotiations - not Harry. It's entirely possible that the whole situation was deliberately put on hold until Levy had resolved the managerial situation. I'd agree partly about Jelavic. On the other hand, Everton always have to sell players every year, and just about every new manager that has ever been has gone back and raided his old club.
Chairman Daniel Levy commented, "This is not a decision the Board and I have taken lightly. Harry arrived at the Club at a time when his experience and approach was exactly what was needed." Spot on Levy, and now that time has passed, Spurs move on.
Interesting point of view there mate. The new manager will certainly show whether Redknapp was actually underperforming with the squad we have or not. Time really will tell on this.
good article and summed up what i thought of when i heard this amazing news. good football, transfer plans and squad stability all go out the window. our lot don't get at all that we won't improve one iota this summer as a result of our own manager chance and i can't see spurs having the cash and the man in place in time to really improve either... it could get very interesting before aug 31 at the lane.
We might actually have to do less business in the summer now, as Moyes will already have signed his top target, if he takes over. Step forward Steven Pienaar!
If he can sign up his Everton form then we might not need to replace Modders either. I can see what Levy is doing here. He just wants an easy summer!
you dont get mass exodus's just because a manager left. and at our club it seems like Levy does all the player signings etc etc.....Levy always thinks about Spurs...so i am more than happy to leave him to it. all this player leaving is paper talk.....maybe Modric but no way Bale will go..mark my words..Levy does not get mugged we as Spurs fans should know this by now.
