Evening all, Not started a thread before but one I fancy for tomorrow is: 3:40 Yarmouth - Johannes 9/1. Not won since May 2010 but been dropping down the handicap. Last run its trainer Richard Fahey said it was in good form and expected a big run. Admittedly, didn't finish in the places but drops in grade tomorrow, further down the handicap, and back over 6 furlongs. I feel it must go close at a nice price and on old form is very well handicapped. I have had a good bet on it for me. Good luck all with your bets.
Rubbish days racing but a horse runs who I promised myself I'd put up for discussion between yourselves because I noted it down on its return, and is one I think might shorten in price. 9.10 Kempton: SOWETO STAR 16/1 Has run in some really competitive little handicaps since he came back this season and shaped really encouragingly at Folkestone a couple of days ago having been badly outpaced at half way and must have made up at least 6 or 7 lengths in the final furlong and a half. There are often one or two sitting ducks in these handicaps at Kempton over 7f and I suspect a fast pace will play into the hands of Soweto Star, who can overcome the wide draw with a patiend ride and being switched to the outside when turning for home and get bang in the mix at the finish. This is certainly a weaker race on paper,no real unexposed types as such, and with no horse being rated above 80 it is difficult to see why Soweto Star is such a big price so long as he came out of the Folkestone race okay. He has been in hotter company than this and the slight ease in grade can play into his favour, and he looks one each-way possibility to consider. In other news, it looks like Kissed may be heading to the French Oaks- how do we rate her chances? Is it over 10f or 12f over in France? If it is over 10f, I'd lay her on the day and then look to back her at inflated odds when she returns to the Uk/Ireland She is a lovely filly.
Waving Sir Barney's white flag today - no bets. Missed that Haafhd yesterday as was really busy, even though OddDog told us two were running in the first at Salisbury in 100% perfect condtions for Haafhd's progeny. Jayus! Couldn't even aftertime either as PN beat me too it. GL today one and all if you're having a bet!
Hi all, Back very briefly after a long spell of absence. Firstly, it's nice to see some recognisable names here from 606. Secondly, who is this Eez (spelt with a capital 'e')? I, eez, am synonymous with drunkeness and stupid behaviour. I have worked long and hard to build my notorious and infamous reputation; I do hope Eez is carrying on the worthy tradition. Kind regards to all, eez.
Morning all cheers for the welcome red yesterday i think you were right yesterday about the horses not knowing there winners well at least they tried ! Only looked at a couple so far and one that stands out is a 3 year old that has had two good races at the distance and is lightly raced with odds of 20/1 so maybe good odds to miss having a small e/w bet so yarmouth 340 dissent it is good luck all hopefully I will get chance for a good look later
Nass! It's been a long time. Hope you and yours are well. As for the above comment, you mave well be getting another bottle of the strong stuff at Christmas. My son sent me two bottles of whisky, almost clear, but they had just the slightest hint of gold in them. They were outrageously expensive. And the reason for their price being so high was that the distillery probably only sells two bottles a year to gullible numptys; they tasted like vomit. I'll send you one as a sign of my appreciation.
good to see you around. All is well here, even had a winner the other night at Bath Racecourse. Strange happenings. I trust your life is much the same? Lots of hassle and even more ale?
The Big eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzz back in town, welcome back Karate Queen tonight 1st race at Hamilton Stay Frosty
9.00 Fairyhouse Tenuous Link 66/1 Fascinating contender for Vincent Ward on his debut for the trainer. Formerly with Dermot Weld, Tenuous Link is a 4 year is a nice enough bred son of Oasis Dream who is a half brother to several winners. He's had only two starts today as a 2 year old where he showed a little promise. The few very interesting things about this colt are he's coming back from a 732 day lay off for a new trainer. Furthermore, he takes a huge step up from his previous starts of 7f to todays trip of 1m4f which is very eye catching to me. Vincent Ward, a sheep farmer with only a partial licence, is only allowed to train 4 horses at once and I certainly think that this statistical alone demonstrates he still holds some semblance of ability. Moreover, Ward has excelled in the past with Weld cast offs with twice Listed winner and former stable star Fictional Account the prime example. I'm having a small bet today if Ward has him ready for only his 3 start although I fully realise he well get a handicap mark after todays race. Definitely one to keep an eye on regardless of what happens today.
3.40 Yarmouth Button Moon 25/1 NAP Although he hasn't been at his best this year, he shaped with a bit more promise LTO and I think Button Moon is now handicapped to strike and I think today will be the day. He's now fallen to a mark of 80 and based on his effort off a mark of 83 when finishing 1L to Murura, a horse I rate an awful lot, this is a strong piece of form. Visored for the first time, Button Moon returns to the track of his only success to date for only the 2nd time in his career and I think this is significant. With trainer Ian Wood in good form and with Ian Burns, who has his first ride for the trainer tonight, taking off a very handy 7lb I certainly think he's got a good chance of landing this competitive event. 5.00 Beverley Monzino 20/1 Showed next to nothing in 3 bumpers for trainer Michael Chapman but was a huge eye catcher in my eyes when sent off a 200/1 shot on his flat debut over 7f at Wolves as he was a staying on 6th. Switched to turf today and although I think he's definitely going to be better over further than todays 7.5f he's too big at 20s. 6.10 Kempton Mays Boy 22/1 Although he hasn't gone with much verve in his last two starts, he was successful over C+D 3 starts back in fine fashion and being only 5lb higher than that victory he still looks feasibly weighted. Regular pilot Rachel Kneller is on board in this apprentice event and I think its definitely a bonus in a race where she is up against fellow amateurs. Although trainer Mark Usher was in good form last month, he's 0-10 for June which is a bit of a concern and is definitely a negative. However, he's just far too big at 22/1 and if back to the form of his April success this 4 year old could prove difficult to beat and I've had a small bet in the hope that he does. 6.50 Hamilton Oil Strike 16/1 NB Have been waiting for the money to come for this 5 year old ever since he joined Mick Easterby and after falling 9lb to a mark of 80 I think today is when Easterby is looking to strike. Although winless on turf, he has a multitude of very strong form between marks of 84-87 and looks quite well handicapped on that evidence. Furtermore, he's dropped back to 6f and dropped in class for the first time since joining the yard so today represents his easiest task in quite a while. David Simmonson takes the ride which is his only engagement of the day and his 7lb claim should be very beneficial today. With Mick Easterby in decent form at present, I think the money looks significant for what is the trainers sole runner today.
Watched an interview with W Haggas on TV this morning. It sounding as though he had dropped a big hint that, whilst Royal Ascot was on, he had something lined up to win somewhere else. Anyone know what he has entered outside Ascot. I can only see his Ascot entries about which he didn't appear to be very bullish.
Where is stickler at the moment? Goood shout on Oil Strike Roto, one ive been watching and waiting for as will go in at a big price. Hope its today!!
Top man hope you are well Does this mean the world-famous eez Sunday Shotgun will return to fill our lives with joy?
Not one soft sod of grass to be seen kicked up at Yarmouth...!!! Looks like a summers day is trying to break out...!!!
