Let's face it, this is going to be a turkey-shoot for France. I'm all for optimism. I've got to be, because being an England fan that's all we have. But let's not kid ourselves that, despite all the ****-witted comments from the "professional" pundits, this is the poorest England side for a very, very long time. The only plus, is that Roy's only gone with one 'Pool player (even though it's Stevie "England's Jonah" Gerrard), given that donkeys such as Carroll, Henderson, and Downing are relegated to the sidelines. Even so, I'll be happy if we can keep the score-differential down to less than three goals.
The centre back pairing is a disaster waiting to happen - Lescott is accident prone, and Terry needs two of Essien, Romeu and Mikel in front of him to make him look good. Jagielk should be at right back instead of Johnson. Heck, Oxlade-Chamberlain should be at right back instead of Johnson...
Glen Johnson and Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right or Micah Richards and Aaron Lennon? I wonder if it might actually be Gerrard up behind Welbeck, with Young on the left, Oxocube on the right and Milner pairing up with Barry in the centre? Probably not.
I would be surprised if any england team under roy gets hammered, at worst its going to be completely outclassed but lose by 1 or 2 goals.
i obviously dont follow them much fair enough Boss..when it comes to England..i try my best..but lack motivation...but i wish them success today. i think if they sneek a draw then the media will overate them and screw over Hodgson further...poor sod. i was trying to cheer on Keano yesterday...dont know if anyone else noticed but i did..and when i saw this it brought a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat. there was this moment in the match where Keano was outside the Croat Keepers area and as play was going on around him...i saw him stood their pointing and shouting legend! really he is a legend for us!
I quite fancy this england side, no muppets like Lampard, Scotty and Gerrard in MF, no Downing, The Ox to provide a bit of pace. Defoe as an impact substitute striker. Johnson the only real weak link. France are not going to have it all their own way.
I don't think that Gerrard's capable of playing as a central midfielder any more. Italian ref. Wonder how that'll influence things? Will he be on the lookout for the more cynical side of the game, perhaps?
as in he will be blowing at every given opportunity? probably. i thought Webb did well and allowed the game to flow on Friday night.
Webb had a reasonably easy game though, Dona. Not much room for controversy. I think this'll be harder for the officials.
Looks like Oxo is up against an equally inexperienced young RB. Not too sure about their right CB either Rami, just been sold by Lille to Valencia...is that an upgrade?
Dear ITV/BBC/SKY, could we have a red button in which we can listen to the crowd but not the commentators please?
is it just me or is the grass on all these pitches a bit too long? that ball doesnt travel well on the surface it seems. and PNP yes maybe you have a point with the intensity of the match..but still ive seen him being a 2@ for no apparent reason many a time. back to the game..a typically English start..you know the cautious one.
