Torres still managed to do **** all so it's no wonder they didn't start a striker.

England's for the taking, these Euros.

  4. The professional pundits seem to be creaming their pants over that display from Spain & Italy. Can't say that entertained me too greatly. Plus, I reckon both the Germans and the Russians will steamroller both those sides, though perhaps the Italians will be stronger at the back.

I thought the same. ITV always talk up **** games though because it's the sponsors don't like it when they're more honest.

it was a dire match..just like i expected.

Croatia v Ireland will be a cracker.....any Spain ot Italy match will have to be accompanied with a crossword or something because i do struggle to sit through their matches.

    Poor Ireland :(

  8. Let's face it, Ireland were always going to get spanked in this tournament.

Regarding Spain, the way England have to approach that match is to use our pace on the wings and get some good and frequent crosses in. In other words, we're screwed.

We really could've done with signing Jelavic. Our caution seems to have played against us, once again.

  10. Well, I think we can safely assume that Spain v Ireland is going to be the greatest humiliation in European football, since AFC failed to get a single shot at goal, at the Nou Camp.

It'll be fascinating - like watching a train crash.

there is only one way England will come anywhere near sniffing that trophy.

it is to take chelsea's example of how to park a bus and bore us...thus adding to the newly acquired reputation of English football thanks to chelsea that English football is years behind when it comes to skill and football the world admires.

When were we ever going to sign him? Is this comment going to be made about any recently transferred player that happens to do well?

There was some papertalk about us trying to sign him in the summer. Our caution was to go for a free Saha rather than spend £5mill on someone who had a very good record at Rangers.

It just annoys me when 'Arry says there isn't value in the market for strikers when Everton, Fulham and Newcastle(twice!) all managed to get great strikers on the cheap in the last year.

When Spain were direct, Fabregas scored...and Torres fluffed a couple of one-on-one chances against Buffon. If they start with Llorente in their remaining games, their midfielders will know who to aim for, and it will be pretty damn one-sided.

Ireland's main tactic seemed to be thinking the Croats wouldn't be able to stand up to a physical game, so led with the elbow - only for the Croats to start elbowing them back pretty damn quickly.

Anyone else see the replay for the third Croatian goal, where you could clearly lipread Given saying "Bollocks!" as he knew the ball was about to go in via his face?

Not sure we was ever interested in him but I did mention we missed a trick on signing the guy as living in scotland ive known about him for a while and he was always going to move on to a bigger league and he is the type of striker that would have been ideal for our system, plus he was a bargain at 5 million!

England and roy are taking a right hammering by everyone, including me! BUT when it comes to the match even though I think roy is the wrong choice and our squad is dire, ill be hoping England can shut a few people up and get a result, especially against the french!

i dont have anything against Roy and i dont think there is a right choice for the England job..i mean who can do it?

Capello with his club credentials couldnt do it either.

My analysis is just me trying to be realistic.

on another thread yesterday i said i had a niggly feeling that England out of all the teams in the euro are the ones that could end up doing a 'Greece'....they look stronger on paper than on the pitch.....and i think they will be hard to beat as always...even poor English teams dont get annihalated..they just cant score it seems.

we shall see..i think it will be an intriguing match and with that line up..i think it will be like i predict.....plenty of huffing and puffing and most of it without the ball...but when they have the ball they will be able to counter if they dont panic.
