I have a horrible feeling starting to build that Bates has never had any intention of selling just yet. I think this is the scheming old gits way of buying time. We know how he operates, sacking Grayson when the transfer window closed and appointing Warnock when it was too late to sign anyone. We know Warnock wanted 4 players in before his holiday, goodness knows how many more deals done since then. We also know Bates sent out a statement don't expect too much before July. I have a sneaky feeling this is going to drag on at least another 10-14 days before Bates declares it dead and buried and 'that he tried his hardest'. We don't even know who the mystery buyers are, it could already be a dead deal but as nobody knows the prospective buyers how can they comment? I wouldn't put it past him to then come out with a "we have lost our main targets due to talks that were a waste of the clubs time" kind of statement and then expect some of the blame to be shifted to LUST or a comment by Warnock that we have them to thank for losing targets and possibly the manager. When he wanted to supposedly 'save us' he moved pretty quick, when he appointed Warnock it was done pretty swiftly. These talks are taking a long time, for the prospective buyers to have remained a secret for so long and not even the press able to sniff out who they are and no leaks whatsoever I fear the worse now.
Heard somewhere that Patrick Murrin has sold his shares, which means either Bates now has more than the 72% he had or if the 'investor' has got them. Yes it could be all rumour because we don't even know if Murrin was part of the last FSF deal anyway, and these offshore companies work in secrecy from normal business dealings. We don't really know that bates actually does own 72% of the shares, because he told everyone he had bought them last year, when he's said in the past that he has 1%? Talk about transparency
Hope I am wrong too, just found this snippet http://www.footballfancast.com/2012/06/championship/silence-is-deafening-for-leeds-united-fans suggests a deal by the end of today and an announcement on Wednesday but again just a rumour. I have to agree with this part though: Surely any new potential owner would want to get the fans on their side early on, they would want future targets to hold on and wait on the takeover talks outcome, I find the silence very worrying.
It doesn't suggest anything of the sort ristac, it says "the latest rumour from twitter" I don't understand why you persist in putting yourself through this torture
Someone once said, silence is golden. Not if you're a Leeds fan it isn't. Could be an interesting week.
I did say 'just a rumour' I also quoted an "if the rumour" comment. Do not pretend LUFC 666 that you are not being tortured by all of this, I don't care what any Leeds supporter says, everyone of us have a small bit deep down inside 'hoping' something positive comes off or that we do have new owners in place very shortly. NOT ONE of us would stake our life on this falling through or being as I fear a delay tactic by Bates - We all carry that little hope inside and while we carry it then it is torture yes but you are kidding nobody if you think for a moment anyone believes you are not being affected by it as well.
Patience, laddy, just have some patience. It's not eating me up in the slightest. I hope, just like everyone else, that this takeover comes true, but I do not hold out any optimism that it will happen this summer. And then we will really see Bates ratchet things up, blaming us terribly for all the woes at LUFC. Alternatively, just check out the official site RIGHT NOW for the news you have long been waiting for!
The 'not knowing what the hell is going on' is torture in itself. Some information from the club itself wouldn't go amiss.
Already seen it and another worry that we are filling the squad places with the youngsters, can see it now, Warnock leaves and a new manager has the transfer listed players to work with and a mix of youngsters.
Much as I admire and encourage the workings of LUST, I am a little irritated that their hints of a takeover precipitated the tsnunami of expectation that has enveloped us all these past few weeks. I thank them for the exhilaration, but most certainly not for the doubt & anxiety that is now creeping in to fill the gap left by the lack of takeover progress. I'm normally one for the British stiff upper lip poker face, but bugger me, I can't help wearing my heart on my sleeve when it comes to Leeds.
Have you guys ever noticed that your Uncle Kenny has massive investment in the pipeline or your being sold to some multi Billionare when its time for you to renew your season tickets............................. And then it never happens?
Funnily enough more and more "sources" are starting to report that it's a done deal, or nearly as good as. Now, obviously the majority will be talking bollocks, but some people are bound to actually be "in the know" and it's looking positive.
It doesn't matter which way it goes, once it has concluded this forum will probably go into meltdown overload.
So let me get this right, Bates fires Grayson because the team aren't doing well enough (ie: not looking like getting promotion to the Prem). He appoints Warnock and then deliberately handicaps his chances of doing well.
