Naldo isn't the player he use to be, the injuries he had a few years ago saw to that.

Just had a Burnley fan / journalist from up in Burnley tweet me out of the blue. I talk to him a fair bit, but he says personal terms are fine with Jay but it's stalling.

Apparently Moyes has been to his house to try and talk to him. Isn't he down South??

I don't know what to think anymore.

Have Everton had a bid accepted by Burnley yet? sounds like they need to raise some funds to make it happen.

Nope. It's odd, sounds as if they are in his ear to stop him signing. Come on Jay, just do it and sign.

Do we really need J Rod?

For the money I would move on if he's stalling, we need players that want to play for the Shirt. He'll probably go to Everton and end up the next Beckford.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself. We don't have any confirmation he is stalling or that Everton have the funds, or have made a bid.

I would say yes we do need to sign Rodriguez. A bit like the "do we really need to sign this Drogba lad?" approach from Lowe and co. years ago.

Surely if Moyes is trying to talk to him without a bid accepted by Burnley that amounts to 'tapping up'? I think it's unlikely they would do that, the most they could get away with surely is a discreet phone call to his agent.

I do believe he will sign and all the people starting to panic on here are laughable but i also believe that if he does go to Everton it won't matter too much. With 7m pretty much we can get a similar very handy striker...

I am sure Burnley will have something to say about this if true. It amounts to tapping J Rod up as they haven't accepted a bid and if so wouldn't have given him permission to talk to Everton.

On a side note, that Nixon guy wrote an article about Ormerod being offered 15k a YEAR to stay at Blackpool. Can't see that being the case either. Think it is just a slow week in domestic football so anything to fill the column inches is being written and sold as gospel.

But at a similar age, that's the question. I think that's part of why Adkins has wanted him. Not only is he good now but he has many many season of development ahead of him.

I don't know how much I would believe he has been to his house or spoke to him at all. You would have to request permission to speak to a player and that's normally done after a bid has been accepted, at this stage neither has been suggested.

It may all be media hype and he will still join however if he is stalling I think we should walk away now and not waste anymore time, saints should not be trying to attract players who see us as a second best option!

Everton are a bigger club than us, so you can see his problem. Only a minority of professional players have a natural affinity for the clubs they play for or clubs trying to sign them, so it's understandable for him to think about his career.

On the flipside, I don't think we'd be too keen on signing players who don't have ambitions higher than where we are now.

Interesting tweet, we should know soon.

“@footballagentDS: I have heard that Saints preferred choice for JR and should be done early next week”

    He also says

"@footballagentDS: expect a few Shrewd signings. As for ambition £7mil on a striker of JR quality, plenty of ambition #SFC #saintsfc”

I think we can all agree good times ahead

I 100% agree but I don't feel cortese or any of the sfc staff believe we have reached our limits! The aim is Europe. The only plus side for JR to go to everton is purely location. Saints are going places!

We are all looking too far into it and everyone is coming up with theories and they are fast becoming rumours...

    It's tragic really.

Everyone stop getting worked up about it, there are better players out there as well... <ok>
