Easy mistake to make. We did look like champions for most of the season. Sometimes I even forget we didn't win it.
Do we care if they call us the champions...Nah of course we don't......Reading may be a tad grieved though.
I don't think I'm wrong in thinking that there was a bit of a groundswell of hope from interested neutrals and pundits that we might end up Champions. I know a lot of pundits loved [and love] the Rickie Lambert story of achieving the Premier League at 30, so that gave us a lot of good publicity. It also helped to get the Club some excellent coverage even though we ended up coming second. By comparison, Reading became Champions relatively quietly. Or is that my Saints bias showing..?
Reading were pretty rubbish last season and got a hell of a lot of luck in their last games IMO. We were the best team last season but nevermind - I'm sure we'll finish above Reading this season. I find it funny how they won the league by us losing so they're plastic little fans got no excitement whatsoever! I hate that 'club'.
