That constant racist chanting in the opening game really lowered the tone for the tournament ahead. Wait, "Polska" is a term of racist abuse, right?
Howard Webb'll be officiating, so if the BBC want to talk about the poor standard of refereeing in the tournament, he'll set the standard...
They may have been muffled by those Nazi salutes everywhere you looked in the stadium. It almost looks as if Panorama did a hatchet job on Poland and the Ukraine, which is in no way connected to general peevishness permeating the English media that FIFA at least saw enough sense not to award the 2018 World Cup to England, for no reason other than to generate some headlines for themselves...
Alternatively, we could see another London-based goalkeeper balls it up for his country. Far less likely for Cech though, unfortunately. EDIT: You're probably right, Croydon. It's not like there were any complaints about racism in the pre-tournament warm up or anything.
A couple of former Spurs strikers on the benches in this one - Pav for Russia, Pekhart for the Czechs.
Forgot about him! didn't have the best of seasons at Everton though tbh. Pav and Pogrebyniak used to start for Russia at one point I think.
Knowing Russia, they'll flatten the Czechs, have two sent off in a draw with Poland, beat Greece before rolling over and be soundly beaten once they meet one of Spain or Germany.
