whitbread left weeks ago - he refused a new contract way back because we couldn't offer him enough money.
Yes, but isn't he still technically a Norwich player until the end of June? Wondered whether Hughton was prepared to pay a bit more a week, or are his demands totally out of our reach?
I'm a bit confused with all the fuss about Whitbread - didn't personally rate him any higher than what we already have and his wage demands are too high. Plus he is injured for half a season. Time to move on. Hey Supers...I'd love to see Ken Bates face if we flogged Howson for 12m just six months after paying a fraction of that cost. Clever business man is that Bates...
Can I just point out that I'm also a bit meh about Whitbread leaving. I was merely wondering if there might be a different approach taken to his demands now we have a new manager.
We are as likely to lose our star players to other clubs as villa I think McNally can play hardball if necessary, lambert has already ruined his holiday so he's probably like an angry bee right now
Of course you're correct. However, Hughton will be given a budget, and its up to him how he uses it. As I've said, not particularly bothered if he stays or goes. I just wondered if Hughton would TRY and keep him IF he is still contracted to us.
Just a thought regarding the Holt thing. What if the third year is agreed to but on a different basis i.e. games played, goals scored or whatever. What McNally doesn't want is to be strapped into paying someone who may be crocked or just not performing and at 34 that is more likely than with say a 28 year old. Let's face it, after the next contract his transfer value would be nominal anyway. My final thought (sorry this starting to become a ramble) is that if he is so happy in Norfolk with family etc. as he claims. why uproot over 1 year of a deal which could affect the rest of their lives.
its becoming clear to me that holt and his agent are being greedy. they want more money. the extra year is a useful excuse to cover that up with. if he signed for west ham for example on a two year deal and earned double the money, he'd make more money than he would by getting an extra year here. they know this.
