    I thought it was routine. Whenever you see a big signing they have them doing a medical before signing the paperwork.

    In any case I'm convinced it is routine, Sharp had one BEFORE he signed also.

    Surely that's the only logical way to do it? A player has to pass a medical in order to transfer to a new club. If he's already signed the paperwork, then he's already transferred! Medical has to come first.

    Terms and conditions are always discussed in depth so both parties are happy before any medical takes place. Them terms are pending passing a medical as I believe they need the medical for not only the clubs satisfaction but also for insurance purposes. The medical is the last action taken before the contract is signed. One would imagine running him down for a medical after a relatively long haul flight on Thursday wouldnt be of best interest for anyone concerned. He could well be having the medical today, whether this is announced today is another matter.

    The medical is after everything else. Everything is agreed and the contract is signed pending a medical. If the medical is failed the contract is void.

    It may be that Rodriguez agreed a deal yesterday and the medical is happening today, but we don't know. Whatever the case, I very much doubt the medical was done yesterday or it would have been announced by now.

    Sharp said he had the contract to join Leicester but couldn't bring himself to sign it. Presumably he had a medical with Leicester then, but still didn't go there. SKD was having a medical at West Ham but obviously hadn't signed because he came back. So would guess that medical proceeds the final signature.

    Chronological order of a transfer as I understand it:

    - Offer made to club
    - Offer accepted and permission given to speak to player
    - Contract terms negotiated with player
    - Parties come to agreement on terms
    - Medical
    - Player signs contract

    - Payment of transfer fee
    - Completed transfer of registration forms with relevant authorities (FL/PL/FA's)

    Most transfers aren't completed in 2 days. Especially with it being Premier League, it tends to drag. It's just that this deal has been in the spotlight for a fair while with Rodriguez abroad.
