Don't forget the fact he was very harshly sacked whilst Newcastle were in the top half of the Premier League. Fans, players and ex-players were all shocked and disappointed when he was sacked. He also signed Tiote and Ben Arfa whilst he was their manager.

Just a few additional facts you might be interested to know - Chris Hughton used to play for Spurs and Northern Ireland, before he managed Newcaslte and Birmingham he was the assistant at Tottenham, where in 1998-99 they won the Football League Cup and in 2005-06 and 2006-07 finished in fifth place in the premier league. As for what he has done at Birmingham - he got them to the group stages of the Europa League courtesy of a 3-0 aggregate win over a portuguese side, took them to the 5th round of the F.A. Cup where they drew away to Chelsea before they lost the replay and won the manager of the month award in October.

So if you are telling us to appoint someone who has worked with one of the top sides in the premier league, won a trophy with them, has recently taken a championship side into Europe, competed with the likes of Chelsea and managed to get a draw against them, then by all means I'd be more than glad if McNally appoints him.

I think you will find that McLeish took them into Europe!

I'm not sure why most of you lot are creaming yourselves over Hughton! <yikes> What the **** has he ever done apart from get Newcastle promoted which wasn't too difficult when they had most of their premiership team intact! He didn't get Birmingham promoted this season against most people's expectations and he didn't even get them into Play-off final. I can't see how Hughton would improve on the existing squad you have so please appoint him! <ok>

naive warky, very naive

<tut tut tut>

He's no Paul Lambert is he.... <laugh>

he's a completely different kind of person but he also gets the same kind of respect from his players. never heard a bad word said about him from anyone. he's also more experienced than lambert but has the ability to adapt his style of play to suit his players and opponents. he's a snug fit for norwich city. it's probably the most smooth transition we could make at this time and i think he'd enjoy it here.

Lambert fined people for anything but it was all taken as a joke. Mcveigh was fined for turning up to training early, to get in some extra fitness training, because he was listening to his iPod....
