No one actually thought SPL could get worse, but Doomcaster proved everyone wrong.

I remember wanting Paul Tisdale, Exeter just came up and he was one of the top 5 favourites. His record was pretty good at the time.

Did you know that one anagram of his name is "action slender" which sums up his entire contribution to NCFC while he was at the club <yikes>

I'm not sure why most of you lot are creaming yourselves over Hughton! <yikes> What the **** has he ever done apart from get Newcastle promoted which wasn't too difficult when they had most of their premiership team intact! He didn't get Birmingham promoted this season against most people's expectations and he didn't even get them into Play-off final. I can't see how Hughton would improve on the existing squad you have so please appoint him! <ok>

Be afraid, be very afraid! blackratgreen has returned to the fold and he will be coming to get you!

JWM you show a total lack of knowledge with your comments on Hughton!

The record books show that he failed to get Birmingham promoted this season in a poor league so I don't see how that shows a lack of knowledge <ok>

A poor league!! Getting out that league is a horrible job, you should know all about that stuck in mid table mediocrity after spending millions.

He had no money to improve the squad, lost 15 of his best players and still galvanised them into a play-off place, and his Newcastle side of "Premiership" players were the very same players that got relegated with Shearer!

I think that having to cope with an extended Europa Bollocks League campaign may well have had a negative effect, coupled with a transfer embargo.
Hughton was excellent for Newcastle - and if you think we have high expectations try going to the North east and he did well and was bounced in ridiculous circumstances. he gets my vote and I would be happy if it came to fruition.

I thought they were forced - a bit like Aston Villa, to sell key players and work to very tight budgets this season?

Anyway, it seems as if West Brom have ended their interest in him. We'll see what happens.

Just a few additional facts you might be interested to know - Chris Hughton used to play for Spurs and Northern Ireland, before he managed Newcaslte and Birmingham he was the assistant at Tottenham, where in 1998-99 they won the Football League Cup and in 2005-06 and 2006-07 finished in fifth place in the premier league. As for what he has done at Birmingham - he got them to the group stages of the Europa League courtesy of a 3-0 aggregate win over a portuguese side, took them to the 5th round of the F.A. Cup where they drew away to Chelsea before they lost the replay and won the manager of the month award in October.

So if you are telling us to appoint someone who has worked with one of the top sides in the premier league, won a trophy with them, has recently taken a championship side into Europe, competed with the likes of Chelsea and managed to get a draw against them, then by all means I'd be more than glad if McNally appoints him.
