Well we've all seen the rumors of who we're being linked with, Some more realistic than others. We shouldn't really read to much into the rumors as really nobody but Del knows who were after. One thing he will have in mind is the team we have at the moment, aren't capable of a top half finish, we cant really blame one position in the side as in my opinion its everywhere, there isn't a solid player in that team that couldn't be replaced. We have our star players or do we?? Albert was the one and still is the one that gets us off our seats, but he dipped in form towards the end so this shows we need more quality as back up for when our best aren't playing well

So the question is what needs replacing and what needs filling

Goalkeepers, Gerken all but earned his chance at number 1 next year but no doubt about it he will need competition

Defense IMO needs a total overhaul, apart from foster i wouldn't want any players that played there last season (this means from our permanent contracted players) in the back 4 so we will need 2 CB's at least and a LB

Midfield Albert is a must in the starting 11 to move forward, but we will need quality along side him so when he isn't playing well we don't have to rely on his all the time so a creative midfielder another CM and a left winger is needed

Striker regardless of what stead did last year can you really see him being the answer to our goal problems? I cant remember when i made the article but it was regarding pitman, i said he isn't the striker we thought he would be and i stand by that, he WONT get us 20 goals a season simply because he cant play every game, Coming on as a sub for us will be great so in my opinion 3 strikers are needed

It's all good me saying what we need but im not the manager and i dont get the choice of how much money we can spend, but i will :D

    So

    Goalkeeper - Scott Loach

    Defenders - Amougou, McManus, Laird

    Midfield - Davidson, Templeton, Carayol

    Strikers - S. Jackson, R. Fuller, Naismith

with the above signings a top 10 finish should be easy!!

    Shiny

Pitman and Albert will be gone,he needs to make some decent signings, if we are to survive next season.

Our current squad, you can see why we are fourth favourite for the drop.

Take Albert and Pitman out the equation and we are further in the brown stuff.

Players are required to keep us up.

It will be very interesting to see what arrives.

Del doesn't exactly have an easy job on his hands and I'm sure he is well aware of this fact. He has the unenviable task of rebuilding a team that had virtually disentegrated in to chaos and discontent, and now he must carefully get new blocks to help the rebuild and also to ensure that the pieces fit his style of management and play.

So where does he start? In essence he started his reign as soon as he told certain players they were now surplus to requirements at Ashton Gate and that they would be replaced. It's been painfully obvious for several seasons that our previous group would never gel in the way that was required to achieve some kind of success without ever being told that their performances were sub par, at best. Now the new die is cast and it requires football acumen on Del's part, and a lot of patience on our part, to get some semblance of respectability that we all want.

Pretty much every position needs to be reviewed Shiny, and you are right on track believing that a major overhaul of footballing talent and commitment is long overdue. Hope we can all keep our sanity in what will be an "anyone's guess" type of year and my best wishes go to Derek in his quest.

Arguably selling Pitman and Albie gives him funds to buy better players?
At the moment we need 5-6 players (can't see 10 coming in) - this goes up to 7-8 if these 2 go
We need a keeper, left back (would add Dixon of Dundee U to Shiny's list?), right side centre half (Keogh?), creative midfield player and a nippy forward

    I can't see that we'd get much for Pitman, maybe £300k ?

May be Im thinking different but Brett Pitman is a goal scorer who will score goals where ever he plays.

The sad thing is once again Bristol City have not played him to his strengths.

The guy is a natural goal scorer and Burnley or where ever he goes will have a natural goalscorer on their books, again city's loss.

Playing him in his correct position he will bag 15+ goals next season in the championship.

Angelic £300.000 what a bargain at this level.

yeah i agree we wouldnt get all 10, but there are a few good freebies out there at the moment infact ive listed 3 of them so we would only need to fork out on 7 players and to be fair they wouldnt cost a lot

Loach - 750k if watford get Kuzack (how ever you spell it)
    McManus 1 million
    Amougou - Free
    Laird - Free
    Davidson 500k
    Templeton 750k
    Carayol 800k
    Jackson 1 million
    Naismith 500k
    Fuller free

Granted 5.3 millions a lot and we probably wont sign any of them but they would improve the squad so much

    Loach
    Foster Amougou McManus Laird
    Adomah Templeton Davidson Carayol
    Jackson Naismith

^^^ one can dream i suppose

Shiny I'm confused you have picked a team without your Marv in it.

I would personally keep Colelio in the first team

i love marv as much as the next guy ;) perhaps more, BUT he is part of a team that hasnt produced well in the last 3 years, so like i said above we need a change in nearly every position and to have players like Gerken, Fontaine Skuse Marvin Pitman Stead Bolasie etc on the bench will make us and even stronger team

McInnes wont sign Amougou. Disaster waiting to happen.
McInnes will definitely start with Marv in August.
You can forget the likes of Nyatanga.

Haven't seen enough of some of the names mentioned above to comment further.
However by August I do trust McInnes to bring the right 'quality' Keeper, LB, CH, CM and Striker to Ashton Gate.

In my humble opinion a new first choice keeper is a must with DG as backup.

During my time as a City fan we usually had a reliable keeper between the sticks, but since the days of Flapper Phillips and more recently Calamity James we've conceded lots of soft goals. Both keepers were good shot stoppers as is DG but we need a commanding and safe keeper to marshall the defence.

Weale might have been the one but we'll never know...

Scott Laird signed for PNE last week I think. Local lad and wanted to come here but Del was stalling I think.

    GK - no idea
LB - Dixon free + Crainie free
CB - Keogh if he hands in transfer request
    RB - Brighton Spanish bloke
    CM - Morris free
    LM - Templeton £300k
    RM - Carayol £400kish
    ST - Lafferty - £250k
    ST - Aluko free

We paid £800k for Pitman so should be selling him for around £1m, especially with Burnley getting £7m?? for Rodriguez. Assuming Albert sold as well.
